Default Mercury K-280S K-planes advice?

After repowering my Adrenaline V-24 it is starting to chine walk mid 70s to low 80s. I can steer some of it out but in a 24' boat it needs to be stable at higher speeds..
Will longer trim tabs stop the chine walk?
Will 280S plates fit on my existing 150S mounts? Are 380S to long for a 24' boat?
Can you buy just the plates new?

I dont know your boat, so I cant say if they will stop the chine walk. Changed out the 150's to 280 plates on our Donzi 22' Blackhawk. Made it handle a lot better but it still chine walks between 70 and 80mph.

I know of a Donzi 22 that has 380 planes. He switched from 280s, and said it helped quite a bit.

do you still have the standard drive on it? I ran that boat with a 2" short sportmaster with the original engine and ran mid 70's with no issue

running a Bravo XR drive with 28p Bravo prop.
496 HO topped at low 70s with no issues.
New Merc 540 is hitting 80s with issue of chine walk

get some 380 bottom plates and simply change them out. will make a difference as well as an x dimension change too

you need external hydraulic steering, preferably a full system not add-on.

my 28 footer pad bottom was prone to chine walking at 70+, removed the planes and added full hyd steering, it is now very predictable and a pleasure to drive

there is no movement in outdrive.

if you can find one to try put a sportmaster shortie on it and see what it does. I rigged that boat at Adrenaline and in testing I tried that drive and it picked up speed and felt great but we put the standard length bravo back on it as the sportmaster was a loaner and the boat was heading for magazine testing. we never wound up changing it to the shortie as we were busy with the V30's
