Boat being rigged, Intended use and Hp requirement would help?

Suzuki

I have both. Depends on the application.
On my Cigarette, and pretty much all performance applications,Mercury.
On my Grady White, like all Grady's, Yamaha. If you look at most of the guys who fish salt water regularly, it's all Yamaha.
You can't go wrong with either one. Whatcha buyin' ?....

When I was looking for an outboard for my inflatable the consensus was if you want to go fast buy a Mercury, if you want to get home, by a Yamaha. I bought a Yamaha and I'm very happy so far.

My yammy 300s have been great so far. I'm interested in how many hours alot of these 400r and 450r center consoles will go before major overhauls?

badmonkey 10-19-2019 05:06 AM

Intent is to get into a performance center console. Top speed is not going to be the primary ....reliability, versatility, will set the boat up for a little bit of fishing as well. Prefer to operate on pump regular unleaded fuel....not wanting to have to use high octane fuel if possible ... thanks for all the input to all.

Twin 300 Yamahas here, only way to go unless you want to go fast IMO

the Yamahas dont trim up as far if u keep the boat wet slipped FYI
