Vero Beach Fishing
Can anyone recommend a fishing guide for the VB area.
Wind has been blowing pretty good for the past couple days so probably looking for inshore (Indian River) |
We lived there. A good friend still there, hard core offshore fisherman but no longer w/a boat. Let me know if you can’t find anyone and I’ll give you his contact info. He knows the River very well too. We spent many hrs there. |

Wind has been blowing pretty good for the past couple days so probably looking for inshore (Indian River) FVCK fishing................go to Sebastian and go skydiving! https://www.skydiveseb.com/ I took my kid a few months ago, they take you over the ocean and you jump then drift inland over the Indian River and land in Sebastian. |
Great tip. Sebastisn Inlet for fishing. As to sky diving, Ive never been but can’t see it getting much better. They have a small restaurant at the airport where you can watch the teams practice and then land after their jumps. We anchored off one of the spoil islands one weekend and just happened to be directly in their route. Their planes took them up, right over our heads and 15 mins later the sky divers drifted back, right over our heads. Was epic. The Sebastian Inlet is world famous for fishing. And it’s current during tide changes! A fun day trip is up A1A to Port Canaveral for burgers and beers at Grills on the water at the Port. At 5:00, almost every day, the major cruise ship lines leave dock and head out, right by the bar. Way cool. Make sure you hit the Marine Connection on US1 in Fort Pierce too. The Navy Seal Museum there, on A1A, will buckle your knees too. BTW, it’s now dark and cold up here and I’m ready for a fix.

OK, now that I’m missing home..........., Earls Hideaway In Sebastian on Sunday afternoons. Killer live music and tons of scooters. Also in Seb, The Tiki Bar on the River. Great food, million dollar view. And Cpt Hiram’s. Cool place, on the river, great view/food and boat rentals. Mobay Grill. THE best island/seafood you will have. All four above are walking distance from each other. Ocean Grill. 4 star, Beach side in Vero. Million dollar view, killer food. Across the street from there to Mulligans on the beach for Sunday brunch. Riverside Cafe on the river in Vero. Great place for music and food. Did I mention it’s 40* here in Ohio? Ugh Think my wife knows I miss Fla ? 🌴🏴*☠️🐊 |

We used to Surf fish when my grandparents lived up there. People still do that? i just arrived back in Florida After moving back to Michigan 3 years ago. I will take 50 and rainy over snowblowing 6 inches of snow in 13 degrees that I did the day I left no more Michigan Winters. |
there's nothing wrong with staying in a perfectly good airplane - lol....
first jump can be a sensory overload of "what if's?" until the chute opens up - second is amazing - (especially if the chutes open as planned). Jumping over the ocean and drifting on shore would be a trip |
I can understand why you miss VB, it’s a great community. We met several people here (locals) that we will hopefully make contact with next year. Dinner at Ocean Grill twice, dinner at Bobby’s last night, breakfast at Lemon Tree twice, brunch at Mulligans once. If nothing else we have eaten well this entire trip. Really hate to leave here........ |

I am curious about what appears to be a reef or shoal which is about a mile off the beach. This morning I could see the waves breaking on it pretty hard. Anybody know what it is? |
Lived in Naples for 30 years before I moved back up to Michigan, got too crowded and old for me.Not to mention the Gulf being screwed up by them Dumping the river in it all summer. Ive been visiting my buddy in St Pete a bunch and like it but I think next move is going to be the Cocoa beach area or something near on the East coast. Hoping for a little more moderate temps in the summer with the Gulf Stream so close . |

Yea we fished in Estero Bay a couple of days two weeks ago.
Great Snook and Redfish area but geez, traffic moves at a snails pace and someone might sit at a light through a whole cycle before they realize it turned green. |

Yeah I saw sky divers and their chutes in the back of trucks going through town more than once. As in they missed their target. Only two killed while we lived there. |

The year before we jumped there were 24 deaths nationwide, 12 were later determined to be suicides/stunts gone wrong. So 12 accidental deaths seemed like pretty good odds for millions of jumps. |

Murder maybe, suicide NO. |
Go for it. Take the wussy option of a tandem jump (I did) the guy on ya back controls/overrides everything so make sure he's sober. Every jump has a small risk, do it once and unless you're hooked, walk away and say that was a blast! RR |

Slight hijack. Good place to stay in Vero Beach for a scouting trip for retirement property? Would be driving over from Clearwater Beach/Dunedin.
|
I have been up in parasails 100s of times, we used to cut the tow line and glide down from a 1000 feet when things were slow .Tandem hang gliders a dozen times. Yet to Jump out of a perfectly good airplane. |

It was very reasonably priced and the manager (Chris) is awesome, as is the entire staff. There are several very good restaurants within walking distance (Bobby’s, Ocean Reef, Seaside Grill @ Jaycee Park, Lemontree, The Tides). The rooms aren’t anything spectacular but they are new-ish and very clean. If you happen to stay there introduce yourself to Chris and tell him Kelly Cook (the guy with the two Vizslas) sent you. The boys (my Vizslas, Tucker and Wade) had won the hearts of the entire beach community by the time we left 😎😁 https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotel...oc/hoteldetail |
Thanks, Kelly. Don't need anything too awful fancy since we will be bird-dogging property most of the time. I'll pass the suggestion along to my trip organizer (aka Wifey!).

Kelly Cook, by chance not from Oklahoma then later to SF, Ca. area?
