Termites ?

How does a fiberglass boat get termites in the structure??

PARASAIL941 12-23-2019 11:59 AM

I don't know how often it happens , but I was looking at a 38 Seahawk that had this happen. The owner stored a 42 Fountain in the same place and it was also destroyed. This was in Florida , im not sure how other areas are affected.

I was guessing they had to be in there when it was built. Can’t see termites coming out of the ground and tunneling into a boat.

They swarm and fly to a new home...

I have some buds living in the wooded areas of louisiana
the termite swarms are so big at night its incredable
termites fly to wet, dark places with food to make new home and breed,,,rottening wood,,,,,
just like a bee to pollen,,,lol
besides termites wet wood attracts ants also,,,,seen ant trails up trailer and into boats parked outside with canvas covers on,,,,
covers keeps rain and leaves out
but holds in the moisture of a wet boat,,,,mold, mildew, termites ants, ect are attracted to a new home

I understand how water makes it in a unsealed spot but how do termites make there way in a boat and find the wood? At Loto we don’t see this

We don't have a big termite problem either. Most the ones we see that have issues are from other states.
