New year and I am ordering my buy ins from diacom to offer boaters. Here is the deal - I can not sit around and wait on maybes. I am ordering this week so if you want a very good scan tool for your apps let me know. The deal NO MONEY is made by me on these as I need 10 up front orders --- if I get the 10 orders --- I WILL PASS ON THE DISCOUNT to the buyers. The discount is 8 % to 15 % depending on what is ordered and again 10 orders needed for the buy in to be able to get the discount. I have 1 order currently so 9 more to go. All these come with the LATEST VERSIONS in which is all Merc G 3 updated as well. This is much needed to have all these version software updates

Yes they support Mercury outboards. I have one and works great for my optimax's and my 60 HP 4-stroke. Saved me the cost of the unit with the diagnostics.

Mercury outboards only for the outboard side of the coin. and it is DTS / Smartcraft / Merc G3 compatible. See about 3 or 4 years ago Diacom was not that thorough with Mercruiser DTS apps nor G3 compatible for all the NEW engines Merc and Mercruiser builds. Currently Diacom has all that cover with the hand held scan tool and with laptop software scan tool set up.

more info would be helpful here i lost everything due to fire so i,m in need of all the adapters . i have always used 17 inch laptops with solidstate hard drives running linux mint operating system and have been really unimpressed with most of the software, its seems old generation and very clumsy and clunky to use whats the best system out there today? i lot of these companys seem to be folling the collage text book scam oh to read that system you need an upgrade and a different 100 dollar adapter it gets old quick! thanks BUP for providing some great info around here

I upgraded all my coils to Bup's spec'd coils, definitely worth it to do.

good to hear, boat had a code last week went to guardian mode, cut off and cleared it. Then ran with no issues for 2 hrs. After I pulled the plugs one looked very very clean. As in like no fire.

THANKS everyone. The scan tools for the boat owner Merc outboards and for all the I/O s and inboards Diacom Techmate PRO is the scan tool to have. I even use it for ECM repairs.

If you tell me what apps you want a scan tool for I can direct you with which scan tool to buy and which adapters are needed. The marine industry has not standardized itself like the auto the side. Each marine engine brand has different ecms and different DLC to connect to and even on Emission control CAT marine engines as well.

DLC is called data link connector in which is the connection / connector / harness on the engine side to connect your scan tool for diagnostic and parameter readings and engine hours and fault codes and available power and so on.

Early V 10 ILmor engines one can use an AUTO OBD 2 scan tool. But midway V 10 ILmor builds require Diacom scan tool and that's the only scan tool will scan the ILmors using Econtrols pcms.

The OBD 2 scan port is standardized so you can tell at that port its an OBD 2 scan requirement for the EARLY --- V 10 ILmor marine engines

For the ign 1 A coils. You can not mix or match the coils. Yes I am stating for a fact the coils that I get are the real mcCoys and produde the highest mjs spark output on the market BAR NONE.

they require all 8 being new coils of what I have and a bit of fabbing of the coil brackets. With that said the coils I have will lite a freaking camp fire. So know how does little old me have these. Directly one can read inbetween the lines here. Merc does not make the coils - years ago they hired a very smart person to invent / move forward with these coils, then of course a coil manu to make them. So keep in mind that the OEMs are about profit. with that said lets just say I know whom that person was from the get go. They are a 5 connector coil.

What is your price less any discount for the Techmate Pro with 94005 and 94006 adapter plugs??

Also what is the cost of just a 94005 adapter plug. I have a scan tool I can use when needed, but he does not have the 94005.

Price list for this week as I hear they will be going up and shipping rates as well. I can not say when Diacom is raising their prices but at some point this year its coming for that price increase.

Hey BUP - I'm looking for a scan tool with the adapters for:
1996 - 2002 Mercruiser MPI/EFI
2006 5.7 Vortec MPI
Any idea of pricing BEFORE potential discount - Thanks

$ 548 plus shipping -- You need one extra adaptor to scan the 555 ecms being a 2006 Mercruiser but is the 2006 app a Mercruiser ?? Also shipping inwhich on an average range 25 bucks. If we get 10 buy ins then one can take off ---- an average of 10 percent and hopefully save some on the shipping. .

Mercruiser engine ? Or indmar ? Indmar and PCM and marine power all had 5.7 Vortec mpi in wake boats as well for 2006..

If your 2006 wake boat is Mercruiser that is correct for the adaptor you posted. ( this adaptor will only work for Mercruiser using the 555 computers - yes 2006 used the 555 ecms.) The cost of that adaptor is 49 bucks without shipping .

That's why I take nothing for granted about the applications and the used boat market. Most think merc power and always not the case when it comes to wake boats especially.

Anyways with that said Marine Power has gone back forth with ecms thru out .. Can you post a pic of your ecm because here is what Marine Power used thru out the 2000 s for ecms --- Mefi 3 and Mefi 4 and then Mefi 5 and E controls. Those do not use any of the same scanning adaptors EXCEPT MEFI 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 - 4 a and 4 b use 94005.

None of those ecms will work with the Merc 555 adaptor 94006.

This is also where I save one money for not buying the correct cables / scan adaptors.

A good clear pic of the ecm will help me and get you the correct adaptor

I would suggest to anyone to get the MEFI 1 thru 4 adaptor for 49 extra dollars as well. You can charge to scan other people engines or your buddies engines. Anyways a way to make back some of the money spent on the scan tool. Or do a partnership buy in so at least a scan tool can be used in group at one price instead of everyone buying a scan tool. Something to think about.

These Black engines from 2001 and back till 1993 and even Merc racing engines , volvo penta , indmar and so on as well, they all used MEFI 1 thru 4 and 4 a and 4 b.

Coming up on last call for dinner here. Boating season starting soon and the 3 that have paid me so far said they are players. So as of today I have just 3 buy ins. This coming Monday I am ordering regardless. Just saying.

I have to bite the bullet and get one. I need the one that does the whole 9 yards on 2008 Merc. 525's.
But I need it like now. I can't get any marine in Jacksonville to get me in just to do a scan. Motor is spitting, dieseling, (or whatever it's called, seem to cycle and not an even noise) above 1600 RPM, a few backfires.

Bought the laptop model. Worked ok, but not what I expected. I had no codes, and it doesn't do some of the stuff I thought. That being said it's a user error.
I had the motor scanned by some one else, no codes to deal with.
You want mine? :) I used it for half an hour. Not much more info I can get out of it then the Smartfraft screen shows.

I ordered the hand held this morning. I don't have a laptop. So I will see how it works out for me. But thanks for letting me know
