Roughest offshore race
This is probably the roughest/biggest water I’ve seen in an offshore race. I’d like to see any videos you guys have of anything as rough or worse.

I bet that first boat wished he had more ballast weight in the front of there boat. LOL

Alright here’s another good one

Does anyone remember the World Championship race in Mar Del Plata, Argentina - think it was 1978 - Huge swells - where boats would climb up one side, crest, and the surf down the other side. Bill Elswick 36 ft. Cigarette - broke the transome and sank, the crew was picked up by a freighter -

This is not as rough as the first post but I love this video and how well the Apache crushes big water.

There's a whole series of uploaded Videos of the Cowes- Torquy race, lots of real offshore racing.
I was always under the impression that these were the conditions these boats were designed for, Sadly for the most part that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, at least from what I have seen. I bet Mr. Mcarthy could chime in with a good Vid or at least a great story, lol. |
That's gotta be fun

Go on Facebook and look up Classic Offshore 24.
The person who has that site owns the original Dry Martini Cigarette, Betty Cooks KAAMA, and the Kiekhoffer Aeromarine III. He regularly races the Martini boat in the Cowes-Torquy race and sever other races too. |
Not the roughest but this is a cool clip
