Buying a wellcraft scarab
 

Hi

I'm looking to buy a scarab 1, the seller says it was built in 1989, but I can't see any scarab 1's built after 1986...

does anyone know what years scarab 1's (21foot) were built? It looks exactly like a 1, but it doesn't have the rail around the screen and has a hatch in the middle of the deck for the cuddy, it also has a plastic 1 piece swim deck with raised 'bumps' for the exhausts, but all scarab 1's I see have 2 wooden swim platforms on either side of the drive....

Any help is much appreciated.

I believe they were called Scarab Excel in 89 and had the fiberglass platform, either way the hull number and the last two digits will be the year built.

Thanks, the guages and interior matches a scarab 1, but not an excel though! And the swim platform isn't the same as on the excel, I'm pretty confused...I'll see if I can get the serial numbers.

And it has the chrome/ss vents to the engine bay, which I don;t see on an excel...

Wellcraft did a lot of funny stuff back in the day. If they had leftover parts to a certain model, they would slap something together. Post a picture when you can.
