Good point, I didn't think about how heavy those are. But for the cost of one of them, I think I would ask the guy with the camera to put it down and at least try to help me pull it aboard instead of letting it soak in salt and mud for a couple hours-days-weeks however long until I can hire a diver to get it.

What the hell!! Drive to the beach disconnect the motor, rope the dislodged outboard securely up for the slow idle to the beach to save the outboard. Then the two adults could have drug the motor via the ropes to the beach.
To hire divers to go back and search for it is ridiculous, I assume his boat insurance covers this, or he is so wealthy he said "f*ck it."
That is the difference between an excessively wealthy person who doesn't give a f*ck, and cuts his motor loose when exigent circumstances did not exist. I would have never ever cut my outboard loose unless it would have caused the boat to sink, valve off the fuel (as he said with quick connects) then get towed or idle in to shore to salvage the outboard.
I am sick to see someone cut an outboard loose, a f*cking disgrace!!!!

I work too hard and care much about boats and the power to just let it sink to the bottom. That is the difference, maybe I was brought up differently. I am not wealthy enough to let my outboard sink to the bottom.
