powerplay 185 xlt engine suggestion
Just purchased boat, didnt go as expected, engine cam is worn. Have 3k and a brother in law who builds hot rods. Budget can be more but that's where I'm at right now. Floors and mounts all redone and solid. Just want to keep her classic and enjoy the look. Any suggestions please and thank you.

Cool boats!
Tech tip - if MountainMadness pipes in , don’t listen and run :) :wink His was gorgeous, drive location raised, AlphaSs shorty, aggressive small block, and just about tickled 90. I’ll let him know about this thread since he is the master of these 185xlt’s with reg power, mild, and wild power too. |
Will take note on that.

They are cool little boats, heavy and can take a beating.
stock 350 mag ran 58 383 guessing 400 hp ran 70.1 gps 383 guessing 500-540 hp w/ ss drive 81 gps 428 600+ hp, ss drive ran 89 ish gps Never ran gps after I raised the x. Build a relaible engine but focus on getting the x dimension higher. Stock was like 7"-8". I was at 3.375" |
Want to get it running so I can see what it's all about. 383 would be nice, going to need a bigger cake $$$. Mostly inland lakes in hamburg and some detroit river area, not looking for crazy......yet! Post some pics when I can. Local mechanic here says he installs michigan motorz engines, just want a reputable company so I dont get d**k punched a second time, which I believe going to be the name of the boat. :angry-smiley-038:

Think I'm going to stick with 350, if I start boosting power then the drive will follow. Need a little settle in time to digest the big hole i just purchased

Also, when I mean suggestion that also pertains to who is a solid outfitter that backs their warranties and all that good stuff.

MM is an awesome company look them up online remember the z at the end of motorz
