West Marine batteries are over priced garbage.

Just replaced my 2 batteries this year, one in April and the other one last week. They were O'rielly Marine Start batteries, group 24 840 amp. Was no warranty left, because first one was bought in 2008 and the last one was bought on 2007. Yes those years are correct 12 & 13 years, the both would still crank, but were not holding a full charge. I do keep them on a trickle charger year round.

For over 20 years I’ve run nothing but Interstate in all my boats, vehicles, lawn equipment, whole house gen, etc. Note one failure ever. I’m always proactive though and never let one go past 5 seasons of use before replacing but when I swap them out they are still going strong. All lead acid. My local Interstate store gives me a 10% discount due to my employer so the price is competitive as well.

I had a Seaworthy battery go bad this past year.(I have 2) I was shocked when I looked at the date. 2002 - pretty good run. I put a Deka marine battery in. Fingers crossed.

I've had cheap batteries last 15 years and "premium" batteries last only a couple so I'm not brand loyal and I buy what Costco or Menards has on sale. If one goes bad I have a second on board.
