What's a respectable speed?

What do you think is a respectable speed for an offshore boat?
70+
What speed makes you "dash it"?
80
Is there a speed that, if you reach it, people talk about it?

What kind of speed in your local area makes you top dog?

I pretty much agree with Timucin
I know hull technology is improving and speeds are increasing, but still my opinion for ANY location is:
70+ mph is a respectable speed
If you can hit 80mph you've attained a speed most don't see in a boat
Anything over 80mph is movin' along pretty darn good especially with some of the larger size boats. Wicked Won (41' Banshee Deep V) runs at about 106mph---that's flat GETTIN' IT! And Cat hulls just plain hall the mail!
Of course when I speak of MPH, I'm talking about TRUE MPH readings you get from a GPS or RADAR. Speedo's cannot be trusted---old technology anyway!

I agree, 70 is respectable, that is a good speed for a V hull, anything over 80 is well a fast boat, and if you hit 90 in a V hull aroung here, people will talk about that boat, and top dog is 100

I think that 60+ is a real respectable speed if you are in the ocean. If you can hold it there. My boat with 330's I can run at WOT longer then some one with a radical motor can hold it WOT, SO it is like the tortois and the hair. Yes they are faster then me but in the end we both get there at roughly the same time.
What speed makes you "dash it"?
About 75+
Is there a speed that, if you reach it, people talk about it?
Around me about 75-80. Most people talk about the looks of the boats over the speed. This is probably because most people have NO idea how fast boats go. You know my bayliner goes 75mph
What kind of speed in your local area makes you top dog?
As Biggus said that guy with the Outer Limits is basically top dog at WELL over 100mph. We have been increasingly gettting more and more fast boats in this area to include a couple real nice Apache's, Cigs, and Formula's.

I think speed all depends on the size of the boat.
I mean 81 feels fast in my boat but in a 47 Apache it would be pretty boring.
What the hell does "dash it" mean ?
25-30ft V hull
80 is respectable
30-35ft V hull
90-95 is respectable
35-40 ft V hull
95-105 is respectable
40+ ft V hull
110 is respectable
Top dog speeds
25-30ft V hull
85-90
30-35 V hull
90-95
35-40 V hull
105
40+ V hull
123
Speeds that are talked about .... Well it seems that everyone that you talk in the bars around here has a 80-90 mph boat. Only the serious gearheads tell he truth.
For instance I raced a boat last year that I was told ran "well into the 80's, we had a hard time passing him" well I had my GPS on and paced the boat for a while , it ran 71. So speeds that get talked about is just that ...talk.
