Maybe it would help to have an explanation of what exactly a 'special character' is.

I still like 'My last boat VII' does that qualify ? :D

When referring to "special characters", it would be characters other than the Latin alphabet or Arabic or Roman numerals. Examples would be $, #, !, etc. Again, the boat name can be displayed with these special characters on the boat, however, it will not appear on the Certificate of Documentation.

A special character is anytime you hit shift + any # on your keyboard.

Yes, correct. My documentation says "ALL IN", but my boat name is "ALL IN!"
