Searching for a Volvo Penta guru

I have a 2000 model Volvo penta 7.4 GI PEFS. Some of the parts are showing obsolete. What does that mean? Whats the alternate part number? Im currently replacing all of the hoses which I have one that no one seems to be able to get. Its the water pump to thermostat hose (#22 pt # 3860251). Also Im needing to replace the thermostat but it seems to be pressed into the thermostat housing. Definitely scratching my head on this one. The diagram shows it fitting on top of #32 spacer pt #3856977 which makes perfect since to me but as you can see the thermostat is pressed into #6 pt number 3855018 which is not the number on the number I have on my housing. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thats the bottom end of the thermostat housing...Looks like it is pressed in but I know better.

Are you using this site Volvo Penta Marine Engine Parts and Accessories Online Store - volvopentastore.com they usually list the new part number over the old one.

I second what was just mentioned.... use that website.

That t-stat....yes.... it will look pressed in, but it really is not. Get in on the inside there was a pick and scrap around the edge of t-stat. There is a o ring that in a lip that rests against the t stat edge holding it in place. Maybe even spray some wd-40 and wire brush it first inside and then scrap at with pick.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys but thats where Im getting my information from. I might have to call them and see what they say about alternative parts. MyIsland Ill put some kroll on it and see if it loosens up but from the above diagram the thermostat looks like your generic t-stat but I know theres a way for it to come out. Ill try this evening.

Got the T-stat out. It is pressed in and held in place with an O-ring. The kroll penetration oil really did the trick. Ive never seen a thermostat mounted from the bottom up, but oh well. Its out so just need to find a replacement.

We have a hurricane heading this way so Ill give him a shout next week.

The top of the T-stat mounts in and the spring and sensor mount towards you. Its held in place with an O-ring.

Serial no termostat housing

Dears, I am having the same problem and have to replace my termostat housing in 7.4 Gi 1999.
The volvo penta says 3855018 but it is almost impossible to get it from the market new or second-hand.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?
The 3850360 looks similar?

Thanks.
Michael
