1978 Dynamic Marine race boat
Hey guys and gals! My name is Jeff Pifer Jr. and I am from Erie Pennsylvania. I am new to this website but not new to boats. Have been around them since I was able to crawl lol. I'll cut the story short but will get to it at a later date. My father used to race boats in lake erie back in the day. The last boat he built and sold was a 1978 24ft Dynamic Marine with a 6.5ft hull. Had a 496ci 13:1 comp on race gas with a trs drive with a speed master lower and a 3 blade cleaver chopper prop (can't remember the pitch). He sold it around 1997ish. I got on a boat kick and looked for boats. Talked to his old boating buddies and went to look at a baja and he told me not to waste my time. Looked again and I seen a for sale ad, read the description and I knew. I opened the link and my heart sank. It was the boat he sold and I haven't seen in 23 years. Made a deal and went and bought it from a guy named Captain Mike from West Virginia. To buy back a piece of my childhood was priceless. Exactly the way he had it but someone named it habitual over the years because it always had a problem lol. I want to know if anyone knows any history of Dynamic Marine. I can not find a single peice of information about them and it's like they never existed. Resembles a factory race pantera boat. His friend had one also in the 90s and that was the only other one he ever knew of. If anyone knows anything or has any cool information about them I would like to know! Thanks for reading I will try to figure out how to post pictures in here. Looking forward to meeting and talking with new people!

Yes he still has the 1978 ford highboy he painted after he sold the boat. He never hauled the boat with the truck when they were both done. I feel it is proper to let him make the first maiden voyage to the lake 23 years later in life when I get the boat in the water next year! Super excited about this https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...353c835538.jpg

I'm sure its a splash made by someone but from what i remember BROWNIE posting in the past....all the skinny boats have their roots from the 23' magnum
P&D, Pantera, and from what BROWNIE says about a hundred other boat companies all got their start with that...that's why they all look kinda similar |
Great looking boat! Hopefully I'll see it in person someday as i am almost a neighbor, Chautauqua Lake.

Thank you! Yeah we aren't far apart, I will have it out on the water next year. We will have to get together, what are you navigating?

That is incredibly cool. Welcome to OSO

Very cool.
Your lucky to have such a Dad. I love mine, but he wouldn’t walk across the street to look at a boat. If it were John Deere green, maybe. Thanks for sharing! |
Thank you guys! It's awesome to have the boat back in the family after this long. We went and picked the boat up from being wrapped with the matching ford truck. This was the first time they were hooked together and I let my old man make his maiden voyage down the road after 20 some odd years later. It was a good feeling. Change of plans for the motor. I was building a big block for it but I am gonna pull the .30 over 454 out of my 72 cutlass and put it in the dynamic. I'm building a 496 stroker for the car now lol. I just dropped both merc 2 transmissions off to get rebuilt by the best boat mechanic in Erie Pennsylvania. Everything is ready. Just need to get the trannys back, put it together, drop it in and I'll be in the water next year. Smooth sailing so far. It's a shame I couldn't get a picture before it was wrapped but if you look at the beginning pictures I posted you get the idea of how badass of a rig this is.

Very cool story!!! The boat is like a time capsule. Unbelievable that it is still in the same condition.
Does it have an HIN ?? If it does you can look up the first 3 digits and get a little info about the company https://uscgboating.org/content/manu...tification.php Maybe one of these?? https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c5ee014ee2.png |
Great story how this boat is tied in with your family and you managed to get it back!

Have been a bit busy lately so haven't really posted too much. Plus my street car I'm pulling the motor out of for the boat is now in storage so I'm at a stand still for a bit. I did get some parts sandblasted and powdercoated for it though. The motor should look pretty good all together when the new accessories go on have the motor mounts done in red also along with the oil dipstick tube in black. I was going to order an oberg oil filter housing setup but have been reading mobil1 has the best screw on oil filter out there and that it catches more particles than a remote oil filter system. What are you guys running? Just getting everything all ready so once the snow breaks it should take no more than a week to be water ready.

Yes it does but the boat is now is all wrapped up now waiting for spring so I cant see it. Also misplaced the pink slip for it so I'll go get another one monday. Still currently waiting for the title to come back. After doing more research and calling. None of those hybrid dynamics have ever made old race boats. I have called and talked to the ones still in business with no luck. I was just on here earlier going through another post about oldies and there was a gentleman who posted on here that he raced a 74 chettah in 1975. Had pictures of it and it looks exactly like my boat. Come to find out my dad now remembers moving the gauges from the factory location. So to me it seems to be a modified cheetah. Still learning more but hard when "the only two" that existed were 2 miles apart from eachother
