This turned into the weirdest thread. I want to chime in again just to say a few things...

I dont know this guy and I also don't think he has a houseboat or wake boat (they are his friend groups) but after introducing myself to him earlier in this thread, I did see him out on Mead the next weekend and he was going for it in the 33. However conditions were mellow, maybe 2 feet in the wind across the flow zone, we were riding the jetsurf board all day in the coves. The day mentioned in the OP, we were at Mead and I got mad at my buddy wanting to take out his new boat he didnt know how to drive yet. I literally left because as the more experienced person, if I went out, I was enabling a bad situation. The lake was very big that day, I didnt see Ocean that day but the dates line up.

Second point, all this great lakes, loto this, zoom out and compare size to Erie that talk... The argument seemed to be based on the premise that inland lakes arent ****, unless its loto. Well only one other poster hit on it here but if you scoff at Mead (you shouldnt) thats fine, I would invite you to come to Tahoe. Loto isnt gnarly, its actually predictable, its busy and boat produced chop. I dont fear boat produced chop. Tahoe is deceptive, its not even that large surface wise at 12 miles by 22 miles. It is however 1600ft deep or more (suspected by many fisherman, we have a silt cloud layer) and we get ridge wind gusts over 100mph seasonally. Tahoe is downright scary and dangerous, yet also fun. Just be aware of things as simple as the sun going down on a hot summer day, she goes from flat to crash you into the east shore rocks level swells in 10 minutes. Its a true offshore fun zone if you want to go fast over big stuff, think 3x boat length jumps if you dare.

Last thing, im a "noob" here too, since I read for a decade or so before registering. You guys were calling him clueless and dumb and a liar when he was telling the truth about his boat and the conditions, maybe here looking to make some new web or IRL buddies. He fired back with similarly low key (IMHO) words like dip****. I think most men don't like to be called anything, especially a liar. He did kinda go off, yet banning him seems like closing this place off into a sandbox where everyone just nods in agreement. What fun is that? Back to lurking for me, mostly. :)

Why would anyone be on any lake with winds over 100 mph? My bathtub will get chop with those winds.

There is always some dumb tourist or fisherman in the winter that tries. Often times they die.

Coast Guard station here isnt far from my house, they stay busy.

So boat wakes bouncing off the shore in LOTO is predictable? if you can predict that please give me some lottery numbers .

On side note, I`ve boated all over and the cruisers at LOTO they make it a point to make sure they plow as much as possible and make the biggest wakes.
Seems like they do it on purpose . I can be on the jet ski on Lake Michigan for a good long time before I catch a cruiser that`s throwing a big wake. Loto it`s every cruiser, tabs down, trim down , plow mode... let`s see how many docks and boats we can damage today and then when you jump their wakes they get all pissed off .
F those loto cruiser dicks.
Why do they need a 45' cruiser when no one sleeps on their boats anyway, i guess just to plow and cause damage

I boat on Lakes St. Clair, Huron and Erie and the connecting rivers in a 22' Donzi. I do not go out on week-ends because of all the cruisers plowing through the water. Their wakes are worse than the freighters.

I only say predictable because you can easily observe how crowded it is. I do understand that Loto sees weather and can be dangerous too though.

What isn’t predictable is those cruiser wakes that hit the cliffs and bounce back out in the main channel.... up pops a wave and the boat produced it is a mile or 2 away

The OP is correct except he said swells...the desert storms through the canyons will pucker your ass. And they can appear out of nowhere. I’ve been in 8ft and didn’t stick around for the 10’s.

However, I would have given the advice of NOT getting a bigger boat. For a normal day of lake boating, it’s boring. That 33 is plenty...and when a storm hits...go home, it’s miserable to boat in even with a 50ft
