That’s a 2-4 ft short period wind swell

2-4 ft long period swells would hardly be noticeable offshore but 2-4 ft confused lake slop is miserable.

im not spewing any kind of “cred” all I was saying is my boat does well in it. And as far as a creek.. now your showing true intelligence... Lake Mead is 112 miles long... 250miles of surface over 500 feet deep and contains more than 25 million acre feet of water... to put that into prospective you could go from Miami to Cuba and almost half way back before crossing lake mead. You really should be quiet you sound very silly — Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the nation — LOTO is nothing compared.

Lake Mead is #25 calm down with your "largest reservoir in the nation"
https://www.thoughtco.com/largest-la...2002%20of%2025 I texted my buddy who boats on both on a 24' bow rider. His reply to 10' waves/ swells whatever the f**k: No, not a chance. It’s not even a big lake. Jason sent 40 minutes ago My 24 does Powell easily and that lake is bigger. |

I didn’t ask for an education on lake mead. Thanks for your post though. And for PERSPECTIVE I am not the one who sounds silly, you sound, and I’m sure in real life are a first class a$$hat. Enjoy your new boat and try not to hurt anyone.
just for fun here’s a comparison of LOTO and Mead LOTO Depth 130’ Mead Depth 530’ LOTO water volume 1.9million Acre Feet Mead water volume 24 Million Acre Feet LOTO Surface Area 84 sq miles Mead Surface Area 247 sq Miles LOTO longest length end to end 92miles Mead longest length end to end 112miles No doubt LOTO is king when it comes to large waves but to call Mead a creek is a disservice to the lake. |

They rent a $hitload of house boats on Lake Mead.
You know why I never see a House boat on any of the great lakes? Because they`d get destroyed in the first 4-6'`ers... that tells me your lake is very calm and a 43' boat is going to look dumb cause there`s no reason for it. It`s like the guys that buy a 38' and primarily boat on local rivers. Small dick syndrome. I googled 10' waves/roughwater on Lake Mead , not a single video or pic . I did find a bass boat running "rough" Lake Mead water during a storm , it was quite funny . Please post some pics of these 10' waves... |

This post alone should help you understand why no one wants to take you seriously. You keep posting facts of how you have zero idea how to run the boat (but passengers will vouch for you!). Every time you post I worry about what insurance cancellation I will get in my mailbox! And now instead of running in 10 footers you are going to just run in 5’s. I guess you are catching onto something. Is it January or did Darr move west and buy a v bottom?? |
Found one :
https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/w...-on-lake-mead/ 40mph winds , 4' waves. so I believe you at 100mph they probably hit 10' :lolhit: 40mph on the great lake you better be in a serious vessel |

Squall, down draft, microburst etc. common time boat happen experience good home happy
|
The last time I talked to a park lady, so tried to explain to me that so many deer get killed on the highway because people throw their cig butts out of the window and the deer eat them and get addicted to the nicotine. So I’m not so sure about park ladies anymore.

In all seriousness for anyone reading this thread that believes any of these inland lakes have 10' waves have you ever looked at a map and zoomed out just until the said lake is not visable anymore and then panned over to the great lakes?
Without google searching just using a little bit of common sense and a quick proportional ratio by looking at the map how big do you guys think the great lakes water can get? |

we ran our 38’ top gun today in 2-4’s...on the way out we got our asses kicked. it’s comical to think you can run in bigger water with a shorter boat lol |
He gone!!!!!

33 AVS is a ok boat, mine sucks in REAL 4 to 5's, £i think if i ran hard in them it would break in half. Its a LIGHT boat, im.out of water FLYING thru air in real 3 to 4s more than im in it fwiw but hey, , i only boat on the great lakes, nothing like lake mead!

For the OSO members that found this 72 hour, 3,500 view thread full of 'fake facts' and full of disrespectful comments, I'd invite you to us Wild West Team Scarab members backup site: Riverdavesplace.com There are plenty of threads with memories from trips on Lake Powell, Lake Mead and Lake Mohave when the Weathergods made things interesting. 70' foot houseboats struggling to take shelter in coves on Mead, some don't make it or still break apart while tied up with quad or more lines in the best shelter available along the cliff wall coves. A ton of large boats have been lost on Mead and Powell especially. Washmachine 6'-8' showing up out of nowhere across the lake and 50-60 mph wind with gusts in the mid to upper 70s or more. It's amazing what storms in the desert canyons are able to do. Nobody of course enjoys running in much more that 2'-3' waves and surfing a 5' swell or two when returning from an offshore run in the SoCal Pacific, it's just kind of fun if you got a good size high quality boat. But having grown up along the Scandinavian coasts I had seen a lot of impressive seas, but nothing had prepared me for the treasurous conditions on Lake Mead or out by Point Conception and the Channel Island outside of Santa Barbara fore that matter. The Vikings favorite race was for many years the annual Skagerak Across Race, roundtrip Norway to Denmark. Only takes about 3 hours, so the classic British Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race is comparable during a rough ocean year.

the AVS didn’t have any problem at all. Either somebody was taking a beating or the seas were much smaller than 6’. Also, will these boats actually run 70 mph with the trim all the way down? |
Some good entertainment.
IMHO only, don’t see why he was booted unless he was Darr. Was he ? |
In another thread, our self confident mate 'Ocean' said he's done a deal on the 43 Larry Smith at Archer Marine. If it's true, I hope they teach him how to drive it. 😎

Late to the party
I think this is the most interesting post OSO has had in a while. I’ve never felt compelled to comment or poke my two sense in but I kind of feel bad for the guy, I can attest to what Lars and Ocean are saying, Lake Mead can be one wild son of a gun, that body of water deserves a lot of respect and when it’s windy ain’t no place for a beginner, I don’t care what size a boat. I don’t know about if I believe all the nonsense about trim tabs and what not, but they are not kidding around when they are talking about extremely high winds and high waves. Lars you brought back old memories, mid 90s I have never been more scared than I was on Mead. Im not going to go into and argue all the nonsense about wave weight and time, I’ll let you young bucks get all red in the face about that, but I’ve been on LOTO now almost 20 years and its worst and ugliest days I’d recon it a mild day at Mead. LOTO only really stirs up on the 4th or after a big run and even then gentlemen it still doesn’t have the temper and attitude of Mead. These are two totally different animals. Mead is something else, I didn’t really enjoy boating while I was there, that damn lake takes the fun out of it, why do you think you never hear about anyone boating on it. Its too bad that you blocked the young man, must of been frustrating for him he knew what he was saying about the lake was true and y’all came down on him hard yall ganged up and poked fun. I guess the upside is we don’t get to see him hurt himself proving you all wrong. Probably better that way. But was it right?
