Hydraulic hatch issue
I'm running the up and down function of my engine hatch off a hydraulic trim pump SAE J1171 mounted on the engine bulk head.
Unknowingly I flipped the toggle switch to the down position while putting the cover over the cockpit........next morning engine hatch was locked down shut ....Thank goodness for the removable observation disk on top of the engine hatch ..removed bolt that holds the ram bracket and freed the hatch from hyd. ram...........Did I burn the trim pump or should there be a fuse that would blow before more major damage.....I'm just lost when it comes to trouble shooting electric....any advice really appreciated! |

Anybody willing to take me thru steps to trouble shoot?

First thing i would do is test the voltage at the solenoids and see if they are working . there are two solenoids one up one down first make sure that there is power to the main post on the solenoid with a test light or volt meter. then you will need a second person to flip the switch and see if there is power to the trigger wire on the solenoid and if it is working. If there is power to the solenoid but the motor is not turning then you burned out the motor but if there is no click of the solenoid then its a bad one and if there no power at the solenoids then check for a fuse.

Hatch switches should be momentary switches. They only stay on one way or another if you are holding the switch, otherwise they pop back to off.

These are my dash switches (hatch switch was further to the right and not pictured, but the same as the rest of them one switch for up and one switch for down.
they click on and click off........if it's accidently clicked on as in this case, surprised it didn't rip the bracket off! |
