Need help with quieting this beast down.
 
Don’t get me wrong. I love a big motor with raw nasty sound. But......family would like to call have a conversation without headphones on. So, what are the best options? It’s a 598 with thunder n lighting exhaust manifolds. I measured it today at 102db. I would like it to be in the 80’s range.

If you can find a set of GGB inserts they work great with no power loss, and you can still add clamp ons to the tail pipes if need be.
Im in a similar boat (Badabump!). The lady is envious of the ski boats that crawl up to the dock;)

I went with the 12” GGB inserts and all is happy. It’s more of a deep throated growl now.

I changed from Corsa muffler tips to turn downs after repower. Its loud while running but quite at the dock

Yes. Put a set on my 525 boat and they were still plenty load while running but reduced the rap and harshness at idle.

those turn downs always made me nervous. They don’t cause reversion issues?

Should not be anymore of a concern with what you have now. The water exiting the exhaust into open air is the same height above the water level. So open air or exhaust filled tube going out a few inches then down another 10 to 12 inches

Installed +3 inch higher exhaust after repower because of cam, and that was maybe 3 years ago, and no issues
