I'll admit that I'm not familiar with the offshore racing circuit and scoring, but can someone tell me how a 3rd place finish and a 2nd place finish at one event earns the world champion title?

It goes by total points for the season.

Actually, teams start the OPA worlds, as they did with the SBI worlds, with a clean slate. The combined points from each race, in this case points from the Friday and Sunday contests, determine the world champions in class. In the event of tie, there's a bit more nuance but those are the basics.

Loved seeing Her in action this past weekend! Sunday's weather wasn't the best but Still a great performance from all the teams!

Thanks for clearing that up Matt. I didn't know that they started with 0 points at the world's. If I was a full blown race team that had attended every race or won multiple, I'd be pissed when a guy rolls into the worlds in his pleasure boat and takes the title in 1 weekend of racing.

There was only one other race this season....and Team OldSchool was there and placed second. ;)

It was more of a general statement about the structure.

That's how Key West has always been as well...
