Burnt OL?

What happened here? Crazy they couldn't put that fire out before it cooked the whole boat

dykstra 11-20-2020 07:17 PM

Man, that’s hard to watch.

thisistank 11-20-2020 07:50 PM

OAF! That seriously sucks.

Craney 11-20-2020 08:44 PM

Stuckonstupid 11-20-2020 09:15 PM

PartyBarge22 11-21-2020 06:17 AM

I don’t know how someone can just sit there and record that happening. Not sure what the harbor master boat was doing either.

I wouldn't be getting near that thing that's for sure, ever been close to a fire that big? The heat from something like that is incredible, not sure what you want them to do.

Always sad to see someone's pride and joy get destroyed. Tough to watch.

Plenty of times. I know from my younger days you can throw up a lot of water a good distance with a outboard trimmed up high. But just keep rolling the camera, get it on YouTube ASAP and hope for lots of followers. Guess that’s protocol nowadays.

Sorry to the owners.

sad to see, sounds like it is still running in the very beginning of the video... hate to see that all around.

It was in northern mass / New Hampshire. Heard the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm tore

Helmwurst 11-21-2020 10:39 AM

Ever tried to put out a fiberglass boat fire??? Not easy. I watched one burn out front this past Summer, Water Patrol guys were spraying it down with their outboards, It helped, but it burnt to the water line.
By the way, sad to se that go up in flames. I hope no one was injured.

so this clearly happened during mid summer because there’s no chance this is a recent event since the harbor master guys are wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts.

Unlimited jd 11-21-2020 08:56 PM

Once the fire gets that big the boat is a write off at that point, no reason for anyone to try to save it/put it out while wearing shorts/t shirts.

I believe Dan from OL was trying to sell it in the OSO classifieds this summer. I think it was a a 47 with 1075s.

Do fire suppression systems offer little help in these situations? Most have them, no?

Unlimited jd 11-22-2020 11:47 AM

Not with the hatch open

Drock78 11-22-2020 12:48 PM

I can't believe that this is the first we've heard about it. Usually it's all over the web within minutes.

boostbros 11-22-2020 02:23 PM

i,m surprized no one tried to put it out early on what a shame it looked to be a beautiful boat...... the spraying water from over trimming works if you throw a rope around a cleat on the dock or burning boat to stop forward thrust..... of course its not perfect but its better than nothing....
