31 Sutphen vs. 28 Saber
 

Do any of you guys know anything on the two of these boats and which you would recommend of the two ? I also want to apologize for the spam comments on some of the posts below. Offshore Only was claiming that in order to post the links to the two boats below I had to have at least 10 posts so I just commented a few letters on a few posts. Thanks for the understanding I am new to the forum.

I don’t think you’ll read a bad word about either of those boats.

Both are well built boats with a good pedigree. Sutphen ad is 7 months old, boat may not be available now......? That site is notorious for not deleting old ads. Sutphen probably rides a little better in the rough just because of it’s waterline length but Sabers have a great reputation as rough water boats too. Maybe check out both boats then choose the size/layout that suits your needs best. (Is the extra 3’ gonna be an advantage?)

Personally, I like the Saber style and prefer the color scheme.

If you buy one, remember, we like pics of boats and stories from good boating days. 🙂

Don't know anything about the Sutphen, but a good friend built the Saber and owns it. He has owned/built many of the 28 Sabers and wanted an outboard. I was out on it this summer. What would you like to know? Solid quality build, mid 70's all day and great layout.

Powerboatlistings needs to put a "date posted" on their ads. Most of the ads on there are ancient.

I have seen the Saber boat several times heading in/out of the Grand Haven channel its a really nice looking boat, had the opportunity to see it up close a few years ago at the Grand Rapids boat show. Its a really nice outboard alternative the the CC's that are taking over the world. If I were in the market for a new boat I would be taking a serious look at the Saber.

The reason there is so many add is the password is 8-10 letters/numbers, needs a symbol, and a capital. So it is easy to forget and if you do there is no retrieval or reset. So for folks like me, that can't delete, reset, or do anything.. the ad lives on forever ans we still get calls years later after the boat is gone

Thank you! That is where I stand also I’m just seeking opinions here and you match mine. It’s just those two 400Rs on the Sutphen really grabbed my attention for sure. And the layout of both boats aren’t making it any easier with the air suspension seats and u-shaped rear bench option.

Thanks for the input but what I was really wondering with the saber is how does it handle when trimmed out running full throttle. Does it get a little back heaving and chime walk a lot?

Wish the Saber 28 Cyclone with the 520s was still available but yes these boats are tremendous looking.

Both are great options. I have seen the sutphen in fort myers running around and at the owners home. I also have a lot of time in the 28 saber, it is his 4 28,( team kansas, purple haze, the 520 boat an the 28 ob boat). I've been in the saber in rough and calm, it goes through anything. I built the 28 520 boat and then upgraded to the 34. The boat doesn't chine walk it rides great.
