They are called power poles, commonly used on fishing boats in shallow water where anchoring isn't allowed. the owner of the boat uses it for fishing, note the sea deck running along the sponson. in its prior life the boat was the S-111 Skater run by Ryan Beckley.

That is one cool fishing boat! LOL

He needs to do a video like that one years ago where the guy took a cat to a bass fishing tournament.

Those poles are nice to use at the sand bar as well, pull up, top them and you are done.

Pete,

I always assumed they were more about speed than anchoring regulation, being it's much quicker to just hit a button and the poles raise up, rather than having to hoist an anchor. We took a flats boat charter last time we were in Florida, and the guy could just tap a button with his foot, the poles would raise, he'd troll to another spot and tap his foot again and we'd be anchored, and he never had to put his fishing pole down.

Thanks. Brad.

There are areas where seagrass is, that attracts fish but to use an anchor will destroy sea grass. where as the power pole have minimal effect.
