Thanks Guys, I'm going to get a wired set. The outer wall will be
easy to fish the wire thru (that was furred away from the brick) but I have a center block wall that the previous owners just glued the drywall to it. I'll figure something out. If all else fails use silver duct tape right!!!!!!! Thanks for the tips though! Chad. |
gdfatha, I bought an RCA remote that has an LCD display (like a
palm pilot) with a little (pen) that controls TV, VCR, DVD, AMP, TUNER, CD, TAPE, has an auxiliry too which I programmed my dimming lights to. I don't usually buy RCA brand but I figured I'd try their remote. Had it about 3 months and still works great. My brother in law has had his about a year and his still works fine. When the lights are off the screen glows a blue color so you can see what you are peckin at. It cost about $100.00. |
My favorite remote is the Philips Pronto. It allows for macro functions, and has been amazingly childproof for the last two years.
It's a little pricey at about $350.00, but they make a less expensive one as well. |
The RCA one I bought lets you program 20 macros I think. I
havent figured out how do do it yet (or at least taken the time to do it). Correct me if I'm wrong but don't macros let you perform a series of steps with the touch of one button. Like dim the lights, turn on tv, turn on dvd, turn on amp, press play, and get me a beer with the touch of one or two buttons. |
I have some extra stuff at home, you should have told me. When you stop over, Tuesday:D (hint hint), I'll show ya what I have.
I also have duct tape:) |
Anyobdy know of a remote that can do macros that also uses RF and IR? I have a Bose system, and while it's great that the remote works through walls, it sucks that I have to always use that remote in conjunction with others.

Originally posted by florida gator Ratchet, which system did you buy? That sounds like a Sony system I just saw at Circuit City. NOTE: - There is a model that is similar (last years), but only 75 watts per speaker + 100 for the subwoofer = 475 watts. Anyways, this one lists for, and sells for About $700 at ABC. However, after quite a bit of haggling, I ended up with it for $600 out the door. All in all, I don't think it was a bad deal for the whole system. I'm very happy with it. Just noticed
I just noticed that you can tab & see the accessories.......there is a huge universal remote you may be able to use with most things (I know there were some comments about this earlier).

rainmn the philips pronto TSU 6000 does both ir and rf. It costaround $1000. I have a customer that connot figure out how to use it, not a remote problem it is the operator. I may be able to make a deal on it. Forrest

FWK, thanks for the info. Appreciate the offer, but it would have to be a serious deal for me to justify it. I don't have a complicated enough set-up to spend a grand on a remote.
