HELP-Garmin GPS 175 Ebay bid item
I want to bid on this item. Anyone know more about this unit? Pros/Cons? I would use this for boating most of the time
I originally thought about buying the Garmin 76S or MAP 76S.
This one seems better, GPS 175. What do you think.
Here is the link.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I used to have one, and sold it earlier this year for $75 on www.OffshoreBid.com with a swivil mount for an extra $5 bucks. I may have used it 4 times and never used the mount (everything was in the box).

The unit is slow because it is older technology compared to what is out there now. It uses the G-Map plug-in map chip for any kind of detail. The price seems to high for 5 year old design. I bought mine in Sept 1998.
I recommend NOT getting it and keep shopping.

Thanks Nort. I wanted to bounce this off someone. That is my thought too. But, I wanted a second opinion. I think I will stay in the direction of the 76 models.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
You won't be dissapointed with the 76s. Great unit. I have bought two of them. Check www.gpsdiscount.com for pricing.
If you get a mapping version PM for some software.

Thanks for all the replies, I ended up getting an Garmin GPS 76. I know its the bottom end of the 76 models, but I got a great deal on it. It will do everything I want from a GPS. Paid $170 brand new and a one year warranty!!!
Does anyone have the Points of Interest CD software for this model? I understand it is the only software that I can load into it? What the salesman said. Maybe we can work something out?
Yes Hyper, we will hook up next year and get an actual GPS speed for ya. Hopefully, your speedo is off some, and you are actually breaking that 50 MPH barrier!!!!!!!!!!! and not know it!!!!!!!!
