Ugliest OB I’ve ever seen!

If that’s not enough, it’s 1260 lbs and $77K!

I must have missed something.
Ugh
Sorta looks like a toilet seat lid on top.

The pics above tell the story. Even yachts are going with outboards now!

These motors aren't for the boats on this site for the most part.

i/o would go under the deck in the back of the hull where they've been put.I'd rather have the volvo pods under the boat too.

A lot of new technology.
Can't believe this will stay together for a long time.

Lots of moving parts, lots of areas for problems.

Looks like bottom half of powerhead will be submerged so fish of water intrusion after s couple yrs of salt?

Rotating gearcase? See above.
I know Volvo’s been doing it for yrs but, in a rigid mounted application.

To me it reminds me of Evinrudes failed G-2’s.
Awesome technology, on a chalkboard!

Ya that it is cheaper than the other engine in that market that it is replacing (Seven Marine) but with better support.

I said it before but some of you really have a odd hate for an engine that isnt for you, how you boat, or the type of boat you have or want.

I agree with your post, I'm not understanding all the negativity over this new motor. It is an amazing engine for what it's intended purpose is (very large, heavy V bottoms or cats). Mercury has absolutely zero intentions of this motor ever being used on a high performance cat or smaller (under 35') performance v-bottoms - that's what they produce the 300R/450R for. It is absolutely unbelievable what Mercury is offering today vs just 10 years ago. Yes, they have left the small, performance boat market behind, but that market is pretty much dead anyway. I grew up in a '77 Avenger 17' with a 200 (then 225) Black Max, so I understand the emotional attachment to those small, lightweight performance outboards that are no longer offered. But come on guys, let the past be the past and move on, what Mercury is now offering is truly amazing!

Well they're all just expressed opinions.
But I do agree with ya.
They could look like a burnt dumpster, weigh 5000# for all I care.
I'll never be interested in them or a boat that they power.

Maybe people were hoping for a 9.9 sized 1000 HP 2 stroke.
