Have to go to the hospital for a surgery. You folks keep th good threads going! Will look forward to some good reading when I get home. The damn stone is so big, they have to remove it the hard way. But it's not so bad.

Kidney stone? I've had 7 of them in the last 15 years or so. I know your pain. Never had to have one removed, but I've had a couple that nearly drove me crazy for a long time before they passed. Good luck and come back soon!!

Yup, it's about 5 cm. so the go in, I believe orthoscopically and lazer it. Something like that.
The only thing I hate is the down time afterward. At least all the boats are stored and not much to do at the marina. The bad part is no sleds for a while! It better not snow! Sorry Shane :( .

Ive had 2 in the last six months. One the size of a dime and one almost the size of a quarter. OUCH!!! I had lithotripsy both times, but I still passed some pretty large pieces. Most of the busted stone is passed in a couple of days if you have litho.

I know the pain your about to receive.
I had one. 7mm and it was taken out the hard way:eek:
Fortunately, you will be asleep for that part but they will leave a stint (sp?) tube in for a few days. THEN....... back to the docs office where they go back in and remove the tube YEEEOOOWWW while your wide awake.

Been there, Done that too. The op.....no problem, the removal of the stint (sp?) THAT HURT!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, you are awake for that. BE AWARE....when I had the stint in, holding the bladder was hard. If you think you have to go....THEN GO right away. My stint was in for two weeks due to a infection. Good luck!!!!!:(

Well, they sliced and diced and cut the stone out (very large). Supposed to have been a short recovery, not! But today will be my fist day getting out (to the Marina). Have serious cabin fever! Then back next week for post-op.
It's good not to have pain for a change!
