****,sorry to hear that we'll keep a good thought.

As of today, Lisa is up and walking slowly. All the tubes and monitors are out and off, less the IV. She can't have ANY pain medication due to the fact they need to monitor the natural swelling/state of; the brain itself. I cannot even possibly imagine this pain. She is back on solid foods already, and completely out of ICU. If all goes well, she could be heading home by this weekend. The bandages come off tomorrow, for the first time, which will cause the brain to swell; therefore tomorrow is not going to be a good day either. She has some temp paralysis in her right leg which will need some rehab. Thankfully she had been working out religiously for the past 6 weeks, 5-6 times a week, to build up her muscle and strength. This truly is the moment of truth.

Thank you all so much for your caring.

Brian

The bandages came off this morning. As you can imagine, she is in immense pain, especially in the neck. She has the damn hiccups from the anti-biotics; which is not helping either. She is up and walking, and leg paralysis is fading. There are a few other things that are being watched, but all in all she is doing well. We will just have to wait and see how things play out for the further treatments of the parts of the tumor that had to be left behind.

Thanks everyone. The responses here and in PM have been overwhelming.

Thank you everyone.

Brian and Lisa,

Hope you are fighting the good fight! What a struggle...and an opportunity to overcome challenges most of us may never face. Dropping a motor don't mean diddly when someone you know is faced with a health challenge.

If I can help let me know
[email protected]

Now get better soon so we can plan some trips around DC/Annapolis next year!

Wow. What can I say? I am truly touched to tears by all the prayers and caring people Brian has introduced to my life. You all are amazing. I have a tough battle ahead but I am incredibly blessed and will make it with such a wonderful family and group of friends. Brian has been a God send and a saint. I know there are times I would not have made it through without him standing beside me and gently but firmly pushing me forward. I owe him so much. I hope I continue to be blessed as I move forward and fight to defeat this thing, and I will thank God everyday for the love and support that has seen me through this. God bless you all; I truly love you for it!

Brian and Lisa,
I have a friend that just had a similar operation. If there is less mobility after the operation, don't get frustrated. Gary was told he would be fine in a week. Every day there is improvement. But it can take a bit longer. Just stay with the rehabilitation. The body and brain readjust amazingly fast. Good Luck to you.

Sydwayz 11-24-2002 10:47 AM

Thanks everyone. Lisa is now at home. She has a lot of family there helping to take care of her too. We are all very surprised at how well Lisa is doing. She was not even supposed to go home until at least Monday, but she went home on Friday morning. We have made two trips to the store, and she is doing great, and she should be driving in two weeks or so. There is no rush on anything, we just need to get her all set and back to normal so further treatments can take place. Just as you would suspect, she is complaining about her hair most!

Thanks again.

It's great to hear the good news. I'm so happy things are going well. Get well soon. We will keep you in our prayers.

Here is a picture of Lisa, Myself, my sister, Michelle, and my ADORABLE Triplet cousins; Madison, Mckenzie, and Bethany.

Lisa is home now with her Mother and Sister in town for a few weeks helping her get through day to day tasks. She is getting her balance back, and sensation; but it is a slow road. Her stitches came out the other day. Pathology results for the rest of the tumor have been put off until next week, just to have a nice holiday. We will know more about the road ahead then. Thanks again so much everyone for your warmth and well wishes.
