Mecruiser remanufactured long blocks
My new to me boat has a Mercruiser remanufactured long block on the port side, part# 883283R5. Leakdown numbers are great, and just talked to the previous owner that had it installed and it has very low hours. Starboard engine is toast and after some internet searches it appears these long blocks are no longer available. Anyone know if any are still floating around out there? Thinking this would be the fastest way to get back on the water.

I don't know what engines you have, but I went with these guys 2 winters ago. Short blocks kind of I guess, and just reused all my existing accessories/intake manifold/etc.
I have 100 hours on them in the first season and they've been good to me. https://www.michiganmotorz.com/5-7l-...nt-replacement Looks like they were quite a bit cheaper a while ago too... I don't know why they went up in price. |
Forgot to mention it's a Gen VI 502.

You can still buy new ones from GM, Summit, Jegs etc. Probably just need to install your camshaft and maybe change the freeze plugs.
