Swim platform Installation
Just removed our top gun swim platform so it could get stripped and powder coated...noticed it was installed using silicone. question for re-installation...
what’s the best sealant/adhesive to use? Was thinking 3M silicon or 4200? Thoughts? |
I think I used 4200 when I put mine back on after powder coating.....
|
I used 4200 when I did the same thing last year.
|
I like 4200. Silicone isn't much of an adhesive.
|
4200 as the bonding agent and to surround the holes, no harm in useing clear silicone around the braces after it is tight to stop water and dirt from getting in between the metal and the gel.
|
thanks guys...4200 it is.
was a little surprised to see cigarette only use 2 thru bolts to attach the platform. the rest are merely screwed into the wood...kinda strange. |
put silicone on the screw threads before install, it will help keep out moisture

I seem to recall one of my center bolts was a lag, but the others were all thru bolts.......
