Transom Repair
 

Anybody have an idea of the cost of transom repair for a 1985 Chris Craft Scorpion center console (313) ? The boat has an Armstrong bracket and a full transom, motors are 250 HP Evinrude. I feel that due to the age it will require a fully involved repair. Any thoughts or ideas (other than run away) would be appreciated. Looking for an idea of total cost from removing the motors to final fiberglass and paint.

If it's just transom and minor stringer work your probably looking at $5-7K for a transom that is easy to access. Not sure how easy your transom is to access. An old boat like that probably needs a lot more than transom work.

the transom itself is actually tougher to get to then an inboard boat because of the floor and in general requires a lot of additional work just to get to it, knee bracing adds to this as well. Truth be told you will run into as lot of additionals doing a boat that old especially if you want it done as a drop off / pick up situation where shop does the de rigging. Last boat i did where i had to handle mechanicals was 15K plus parts and it was a super clean boat i didnt exactly make money on it (late model Donzi zx). Devil is always in the details . . . .

its certainly in the ability of an ambitious do-it-yourselfer, as most know ive coach many a guy through their projects on here. I actually have a 31 CC Stinger out in the field, always thought it was a great looking older center console. Had dreams of someday redoing it for small blocks and Brovos though (yes its a very cool conversion done right)
