Mefi 3 ecm
 

New user here so hello everyone!

I have a MEFI 3 ECM that is fried I am told that sits on top of a 5.7L Mercruiser. I am told they are extremely hard to locate if at all. I was given 2 options:
A:- Remove/install all the items necessary and make it carbureted
B:- Upgrade to a MEFI 4.

I am told if I upgrade to a MEFI 4 I need the ECM obviously, repin the harness, and a new distributor/coil. Option A:$1600 bucks Option B: $3100 installed. Everything I have read so far states I can use a MEFI4 ECM and I can either repin or buy an adapter harness to work on the boat, I have found nothing stating replacing the other two items. Can any one confirm or advise on this? The boat is a 2001 Advantage 21ft Open Bow Classic.

whats the part # on the current ecm, you should be able to use any mefi 3 and dump your cal in it

watching since each of my engines have one of these, incase they go sideways.

You can find 3's just need to look more. I bought a spare here a few years ago as backup for mine

I will get that number of the ECM it's out at a shop right now. As for finding them oh I am searching but I am not seeing any relevant sales threads that are recent. Closest I am finding is 2018-2019.

I have a good mefi 3 I would sell. Had it listed on CL at some point. Has an Innovation 600 tune on it, but can be reprogrammed, as already mentioned.

Bup also repairs ECM's that other's have labeled as "fried"
