There are boating people and then...there's everyone else. You either 'get it' or you don't. As others have mentioned, you cannot (well, SHOULD not!) calculate the cost, especially if you are still paying off a boat loan. Because unless you get to spend a lot of time on the water, the "cost per day" is simply ludicrous. But at the same time, worth it...to those in the know.

I spent all my money on whiskey and boats...the rest I just wasted.

I wish I could take credit for that, or even remember where I heard it, but the "author" left out all the things you can't put a monetary value on which make boating worth every penny.
