Eli Laminates Dinghy
hello there I too have a 1977 Eli Laminates dinghy that was my first boat 45 years ago and which I am restoring. It’s at my boat yard and they’ve repainted interior with two part polyurethane Epifanes in light blue, now flipping over to re gel coat the Hull. Any suggested brands or process to use for gel coat, or color?? I also am trying to locate replacement rub rail for this boat. I love this little boat as it has a lot of sentimental value to me

Thank you but I’ve been in touch with Taco but no solutions there

Let me know if you had any luck finding the rub rail for a Eli Scout sailing dingy. I am on the same quest
Thanks, Capt Bob |

hello there. Don’t bother trying. I spoke with every company and authority out there on rub rails. There are none to be found. Check out my Facebook group devoted to Eli Laminates and my restoration of my boat

I’m not sure that will work. I took my rub rail to Hamilton in Searsport and Rockland and they didn’t have anything to match the profile

Just got the rub rail in the mail from Hamilton Marine (#DPW-713-FW) fits great on my 1983 Eli. The restoration is moving forward nicely!

Hi MWalsh ... not sure you're still active on this forum, but ... I have an old Eli (at least I'm pretty sure its an Eli) dinghy. I am not a sailor and want to give it away. The fiberglass shell is in ok shape but desperately needs cleaning. However the wood underneath the FG for the riser where the centerboard goes (sorry, don't know the names of the parts of the boat) rotted away and broke off. So this would need some real work to re-fashion out of marine plywood and re-glass. Was going to do it, but too much going on.
I have the centerboard, rudder, mast, boom, sail, ... but as noted the shell isn't usable as is. I hate to take it to the dump when a handful of people seem to have real affection for this boat ... if you want it, or know anyone who wants it, pls let me know. I'm on the south shore of Rhode Island. John |
