As with any older boat, you should get it checked out for water saturation and rot. The '86 models were made by a different manufacturer than they are today. Mine's a '99 and I'm pretty happy with it. Wish it was a bit faster, but don't we all? :D
Here's a previous discussion. There are others too if you do a search. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forum/sh...threadid=32229 Feel free to pm or email me. Here's my baby: |
thanks for the info but can't come up with much on older models.:)

The people at Envision boats made the original Mach 1 boats and later sold the molds to Baha.
I haven't seen many of the new versions but there are quite a few of the originals still out there. Get an Envision, unbelievably solid but not necessarily the fastest. Call Vic at Envision if you want more info. 309-734-4365 |
I bought a 1989 27ft mach 1 brand new, and I gotta say, it was one of the best boats I've ever owned! I took it to the bahamas several times. I had a single 454 Magnum which was actually faster than the twin small blocks. 65-66 mph. They did'nt cost much new, so they don't cost much now, but to me, you can't beat the boat for the money! see-ya, WILDMAN

freind of mine had a late80's 27 -29' mach 1 with twin big blocks, the boat was a little beat but ran the balls, handled rough water pretty well and topped out in the 70's. seemed to be a heavy boat. by saying it was beat, i mean could have used new upolstery and gauges etc. overall it seemed like a well built boat as far as the hull was concerned, its gone now but i can still hear it, those older 454's had a nice sound!!

Cartman, I have a 89 27 footer. Love the boat bought it from original owner with 273 hours on it, mint. Had to put a 502 in it(sterndrive spec.) he did a great job and the boat runs great. Four blade prop and mint mint cond. Handles rough stuff in the thousand islands New york and also lake ontario. Very happy with it and might sell it in the spring. I have pics but trying to post them. Big cabin, bolsters, lots of room in cockpit and custom eagle trailer. So look me up if you are interested in the spring or I guess maybe we could work something out now, want to go bigger. Ciggggggggggggggggg. :D Once again, very solid, all the bells and whistles. 502 performs very nice in it. must see. The boat has about 380 hours on it.

A friend of mine had a 24 foot 1987 mach 1 single 454 great boat soildly built and ran good

Early mach 1's
I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd holler anyway. I picked up an '87 27 footer (Concorde) a couple of years ago and have had fun with it. Twin 454's had something to do with it, I think.:D
I just replaced the battery switches as the previous owner had stuffed junk switches in it (two different kinds, believe it or not) and one of them 'welded up' on me !!! Baffles are next. I can't hear the stereo !!! |

I had a 1986 mach 1 condor(22'4), started as my dads boat then was handed down. We beat the living heck out of it. Took big waves better then some bigger boats, loud and fast. What else could you ask for.

Yep, great boats

Was back in the 80's the only south florida dealer for them. Sold lots of boats and never heard a complaint. They were very well constructed and ergonomically correct. Strong as %^&*.
One of my drunk salesman (frank) ran a 27 staight into a seawall at docking speed and did'nt cause any damage. Ed Undersombody was in charge at the time. Bosco |
I'm very happy with mine so far! With a 454/330 bravo 1 I run 58-60 with a 23p Mirage. I would like to try a 22p or 24p labbed bravo 4 blade and see how it goes.
I do know what you're talking about with the water running in but a diamond shaped billet footstep takes care of that problem, and looks cool too!!! |

Wow! They way you guys are raving about these boats you'd think
they were Skaters. I must respectfully disagree about Mach 1 boats being any good. In my opinion they are crap. ROT. ROT. ROT. If you've read some of my old posts you know my opinion on "old boats" and boats made with wood. I had a MV2350 Condor from Felt Industries. It was a 1991 model delivered at the end of July 1990. The 3rd Summer the floor rotted. Then the motor box. Then the seats. Then the side panels. The boat was always wet. I hear you Sonic guys rave about the "walk around" decks and I cringe. I hated them on my Condor. It was a design defect that allowed the water to run down the windshield and walk arounds and drain into the boat in front of the rear seats. My boat was always covered but it still was wet all the time. It even filled up with water nearly 2 ft deep in the cabin from the rain when I stored the boat with the "nose down" to allow the rain to run towards the bow instead of along those stupid "walk around decks". I had stress cracks form during the first year. They were vertical near the midship cleats and over 3ft. long. Other cracks were near the windshield and sink areas. Screws were used instead of "through bolts" and pulled out all over the place. Leaks ruined 2 sets of speakers and three stereos. Teak wood adorned my Condor and at first I thought it looked cool. But it started to crack and became a PITA. I took great care of this boat but it was just not constructed well. It did ride better in the rough than my current 233 but it was also nearly 20 MPH slower. I did not understand why this boat was $10,000 cheaper than the similar Powerplay or Checkmate that I considered buying. Now I know. That is why I bought a Cobalt and will never look back. I had many other smaller problems with my Mach 1 but you get the idea!!! :chill-pill: Entry level boat, entry level performance, entry level craftmanship. Ok, i get the point, you had some real issues. I still think they are a good boat. Yes, i replaced the floor in my cockpit, yes i replaced the back bench seat, Teak??? thats always going to require upkeep. Overall, they are heavy, tough boats. Sorry yours was a peice of SH#T. |
This may be an old thread but dbkski, sounds like you may need some tips in boat maintenance. Anyway, I bought a 1988 Mach 1 Concorde 27. It has twin 454's that have 144 blowers on them. 4-blade 27 pitch props. It was well kept from the single owner I bought it from and i can tell you this boat is solid and bad ass! I ran 87 on GPS. Yes it is an older boat but it is great looking and sounds awesome. There is video online of a similar boat with stock motors even though I think it says they are blown, but my boat would put it to shame. It's fast and runs great in the rough water.

I am the original ower of a 1990 Endeaver , it ran great in 6 fts and actually was a real bargain to buy new.
Fast forward I am planning on redoing it ( cosmetically) new interior, new graphics and repaint the trailer (continental) It is a great boat imho. |
No dbkski, u r an idiot. You wanna talk smack and u have a cobalt? talk about P.O.S. 90% of 1988 Cobalts are rotted and junked but 80% of 1988-89 mach 1's are still running. I live 20 miles from where they make Cobalts BTW. So stfu. You don't have a clue when it comes to boat maintenance. You should have fixed your boats little problems instead of ignoring them and letting them get worse. Talk about an idiot. Stay on land.

Big question here
Where can I find interior for a 87 Mach 1?
i can find basic seats and such... But I can't find the panels or the front seat boards or even the dog house. I hope somebody could possibly know. |
