525 spare parts
525 guys what spare parts make sense to keep on board for a breakdown that can be dealt with on the water. Belt, IAC? I had a crank sensor go out last year that I guess isn't very common but ruined the weekend so I have a spare on board. Looking to do some longer runs but want to be prepared. Thanks for any input.

i have always carried a spare belt, impeller and housing, alternator, never used any of them.
|
Thanks for the info. Mine are getting up in hours so just trying to be prepared.

If your belt has a lot of hours, replace it and keep old for spare
Duct tape, electrical tape and a few hose clamps, fuses. EPIRB |
spare set of headers.......:D
|
Every spare part and the entire Snap-On tool catalog was not going to help me the times I've broke on the water.
|
Cam Sensor, Crank Sensor, Full SWP replacement, Rinda/similar scanner, IAC & gasket, fuel water separator.

Thanks for the input these all seem logical to have on a long run to save a trip from being cut short
-A few of the Blue Water Drain petcocks. They sell them in packs of 5 I think. -Serpentine Belt -Plug wire set -Spark plug set -Various Hose Clamps Even if you have sensor or similar failure that you don't have with you; the Rinda scanner is a priceless tool to have. I loaned mine out nearly as much as I used it myself, including on poker runs and the like. If you don't have the sensor or whatever you need on hand, you can at least know if it's a $49 part that you can overnight in and get you back on your way. |
A belt and a spare blue water plug.
|
My headers are 14 years old and going strong but I boat in fresh water and don't have long, unsupported, tails....
|
Whats with the blue water plugs? How do you F that up?

Not specific to a 525, but I carry a heavy-duty jump starter box in case both batts fail. Also has a worklight , cig lighter receptacle and USB ports for phone charging if needed.
If someone needs a jump, I'll let them borrow it and not have to worry abt destroying my alternator/s if they can't tell the diff between red and black. After my latest adventure, I now carry a spare MSD box.:( |
