I kind've agree with this I have to say. Can't see the silver lining through the clouds?
TNT and Phil don't have to worry about Cigarette stealing customers to do restorations. Phil's cig following is hella strong for good reason. TNT is the same. My point and take away from the press release was that Cigarette will be offering assistance for the hundreds and hundreds of used boat owners that need assistance with whatever. I don't think it was a secret that getting assistance from the factory in the past could be..."challenging" at times. If you got Bud on the phone you were pretty much dialed. Other than that, Skip focused on the next build and the current customer. Which, not knocking the guy but again, it's nice to see at least some attention paid to the lineage, history, fans and owners of older models. I think a company can't go wrong paying tribute and welcoming all owners. Making plans to build a yacht and sea doos? Meh. But I think bringing Mindi on to focus on that type of work is a smart business move and positive change. Not to mention Mindi is well respected in the industry and to JS's point, has a great relation with Johnny and Phil as well.

I think when you have a owner that has an appreciation for the brand and not just buying it to make money is a good thing, Sure not everything he does will make everyone happy but you have someone that has and still does own a Cigarette., sounds like a pretty good business sense, it can only be good thing,
He knows the brand, Look at how many loyal customers there are, Having factory involvement in more events is going to be awesome,
As far as building up the clothing line I think that is a double edged sword. great on one hand, means I am going to be spending a lot more money, I thought I grew out of it with all the years of riding my Harley around
.
Hiring Mindi makes a lot of sense, People are what relationships are about and she seems to have a lot of respect from a lot of people. Eric is a great representative for the company also.
Really looking forward to the future with them.

whatever it takes to get some help for owners that need replacement parts is a step in the right direction, last time the new owner tried to do promotional/improvement of the brand Lebron James showed up on instagram in his nighthawk with a 5th half emply !!!, this is a better step.

Why haven't most manufacturers gotten into the parts/restoration business? Because the business model is much more sound when they are building new product lines, not re-doing old boats. TNT recently agreed to a restore, Speed on the Water covered the build and they said because they had total control over the job and they had a healthy budget they would do it but usually they run from that side of the business.
You will have guys show up with old boats that they really don't know anything about (anything essentially built "pre-Skip"). Now what? Call Bud Lorow, oh wait he quit. So while a repower could be handled by Mindi and company do you think they will want to try to chase down 40 old hardware, trim pieces? Why would they even want to stock something that they might only sell one of?
Then there is going to be the price. There is a nice Cafe in the classifieds for 36K but needs power. Lets imagine it could be repowered/rigged with new 520s for 80K (50K+ just for the motors). Now your 116K deep in a 35 yr old boat. Nice piece but its not going to be running the front of the pack of any poker run and good luck on finding insurance on a 35 yr old boat at that price point. The owners of these older Cigs won't pay 2021 labor rates/parts costs to restore old boats.
So while you can score a few Cig logo parts that only Cig will sell I can't imagine the shop being overwhelmed with work unless it is interior updates/repowers on CC's.

If I won the powerball tonight.............I would not buy any Cigarette. So would that still make me a poser? If I bought a ratty Bullett with tired power for 25K would that make me a cool Cigarette brother like you?

Maybe a nice project boat that will never hit the waves again? Sand and primer an old hull and then let it sit in the corner of my warehouse under my Cigarette banner because that makes me an owner?
No secret, I think they are tacky with logos like a screaming chicken 70's Firebird on the hood. They have built some outstanding boats, over the top details but usually ruin them with 129 logos on everything from the keys to the battery boxes. Even Skip finally realized the sh1tter box in the middle of the cabin was passe'. The center consoles are nice, smart designs and classy paint schemes but I'd rather buy a Nortech or MTI because they have taken it to the next level. The 3mm+ Tiranna is impressive for what it is but not sure what you do with it........Yacht guys look at you like you pulled into Pebble Beach in your Pace Car Corvette, go fast guys don't like the look/sound/size of it. Mechanics look at 5-6 motors hanging off the back as constant hassle. But one plus, they lightened up on the logos!
For the record, I'd never buy a Harley for most of the same reasons.
