Bingo Rob, if your going to crush someone with a 150K fine (most people go bankrupt and never pay the fine) then spend 50% of it on providing additional markers. Eventually there will be a nice perimiter of little orange markers.

Or, do they like it like it is, meaning, no real care for the coral, just in collecting the fees.

Common sense is not too common.

Kind of off topic, but it's somewhat relevant...It's something I did not know until I read the same article I mentioned above. If he were to seel the boat without paying the fine, the unsuspecting next owner would be responsible.

The article went on to note that one particular purchaser of a used 60' motoryacht had his boat siezed and impounded after 2 years of ownership and was responsible for almost a million dollars of sea grass damage.

Personal experience in the Keys. A grounding in the sea grass, east side of the ICW, near Tavernier Creek resulted in a $100 fine, payable to NOAA. A friend went aground on the west side of the ICW, fined $400. Same offense, different jurisdictions.

Those fat a$$ manattees better not get the money. I am on a committee for a local festival ( The Manattee Festival) and arts and crafts show. The topic came up as to where to make a donation this year. It has to involve the manattees. I suggested a local State Park, anything but the $TM freaks.
