Do you carry any "spares" on your boat?
 

Just curious how many people carry some sort of spare parts on board?

yes…here are a few items we carry:

1. general hand tools
2. spare drive oil reservoir bottle
3. serpentine belt
4. spark plugs
5. Water pump
6. distributor cap
7. engine, drive and steering oils
8. various size hose clamps
9. zip ties and tape
10. Various adhesives and caulk
11. Extra drain plugs
12. air filter

to name a few…

Most of the above and an extra case of Lite in the cabin..... hey it can be a long idle in on one.

Full Tool Set
Water pump impellers
Basic fluids

Ding ding ding!

All of the above plus an assortment of bolts/screws and nuts, Techmate pro, blower belt

Sea tow and full cooler i'm good

ok and basic tools, if duct tape and hammer can't fix it then open cooler

Same plus an extra fuse for the sound system, spare prop, octane booster and fuel pump. I added 2 large aluminum tool boxes to keep everything organized and dry.

On my 208 that I had (from new) for almost 30 years, I was somewhere between the first and second response. I had spare:

• prop and nut hardware
• fuel pump
• all hoses
• all belts
• filters
• fiberglass patch kit
• vinyl repair kit
• more hand tools than necessary
• oils and other fluids
• jumper cables
• battery booster
• two tool boxes full of wiring supplies, stainless fasteners of all types, etc
• lots more

I saved the day a few times for stranded boaters by having THAT part or tool they needed...one time even found a guy with a brand new Cobalt that had lost its prop!

I don't have quite so much in my 252...yet, lol!

A lot in boat, same for trailer! Blew a caliper piston seal this summer 8 hours from home... i had a spare so 1 hour later it was changed, brakes were bled, on the road again!

Agreed! If you can not go for a simple boat ride without a full master set of Snap On Tools and a Bam Marine parts room in the bilge,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You need to seriously look into a different boat. Don't get me wrong, I keep extra oil, gear lube, etc on board as well as a simple basic tool kit to handle those little things that come up and need some attention. But do you really need a pit crew and a chase boat. People have made trans Atlantic crossings with less crap than some here take for an afternoon cruise.
