Active Thunder the best boat for smuggling?

Pat and Brian (Sydwayz) always promote the attributes of the AT cabins. Well apparently 32 Cuban migrants fit comfortably down there! Guy got busted driving too slow through Marathon pulling the AT OB on a trailer. Told the cops he was fishing...............hahahahahahaha.

Whats the "penalty" for bringing in migrants under this administration? Do they throw you in jail of give you a reward, maybe put a statue of you next to George Floyd in Union Square? LOL

Real conservatives receive people who have escaped communist hell holes like Cuba with open arms.

Blueabyss 10-12-2021 04:00 AM

I am thinking the rental truck pulling a 300k boat is what tipped them off.

Can't tell from the pics online what kind of truck it was but it seemed to have a lot of brake lights like it was a flatbead hauler type (unless that was the truck the cops used to move the boat after the arrest). The weight had to be hard on the aluminum bolt together trailer. 32 people, even at only 125 lb average is 4000 more pounds in the front of the boat. With any speed that trailer could have been wagging the truck down the road.

Isn't that the only 33 OB boat made? Seen it before in Ft Myers and thought it would be a nice boat. Maybe now it will be at a seized asset sale?

hoodoo 10-12-2021 08:46 AM

Send em up here to manatee co for 3 weeks.
Then let em call home and tell their buddies all about America.

There have been a couple of 33' ATs built with outboards, both Yamaha and Mercury.

As Morry mentioned above, it's a 2000-ish model year 37AVH 'Excess' that was converted from the original HP500EFIs to outboards within the last year or two.
That boat probably has 1500 or more hours on the hull. I know the original owners had at least 1000 on it, and the original 500EFIs made it to 800 hours.

The boat was very recently sold.

I've had well over 20 on/in Brad's former 38' Top Gun at night during the Miami Boat Show, and that's with only 1/2 a cabin; AND we still got the boat on plane!

Back to the Active Thunder...
One article even stated that their was an individual found in what would be the compartment under the V-berth which is big enough for a adult to curl up in. And I know my 6'2" self will fit inside either gunwale of a 37AT as I've been in there multiple times installing stereo equipment. I would imagine there were probably several folks in the former engine/bilge area as well. I'm sure they were not ALL in the cabin, probably scrunched into the cockpit as well.

100% USCIS & DOL certified H2A workers who all return to Mexico at the end of each work season. All transportation and housing paid by the farm. When harvest starts in Dec, will have nearly 800 men. Inbound/outbound trans alone is 1200$ per man. It’s costly to be legal but except for Commifornia, H2A is the rule rather than he exception.

Good news is that boat will be for sale at some government auction one day in the near future :)

Biden.... what an F-ing joke and embarrassment

That's ironic! I was putting my boat back on the trailer at the Marathon Yacht Club (I believe that's what they called it back then) in 2000 / 2001, and the tide was out (the ramp had a curb at the end of it so as not to drive off the end). So, we were having a hard time getting the boat on the trailer. A large CC with a cabin in the nose rolled in, waited on me for a couple minutes and then, frantically, asked me what they could do to help me get the boat on the trailer... which we did. Afterward, as we were thanking them, my friend asked what kind of fish they caught. I still remember two of the guys looking at each other, when I quickly added....., "Snapper, I bet, right?" They replied..., "yeah... yeah, snapper."

After we pulled off, I told my friend there weren't ANY fishing poles, or related items, on the boat! LOL

.

Isn't that 'Thunder Roy's" old boat? If so, It slipped across the dock from me back then, and was really fast for those motors. We both had 500 EFI's and my 38 AVS Scarab was regularly SMOKED by it,
in all water conditions.

No this boat was built for the Smallwoods and then sold a few yrs ago. Roy's boat was in Michigan for several yrs but it too was recently sold and I'm not sure where it went.
