we got 8 inches sunday but it all gone now dammit. the good thing is the lakes are staring to freeze up so it wont be long till ballistic run time again :)
|
So what. We're going boating the next two days. :D :D :D
|
Mike,
If you ever want to and or make your way up toward upstate NY or VT I would be happy to take you riding. We are also very close to Killingon, Whiteface, Gore, Stratton, Bromley, Haystack, Jiminy Peak and other great ski areas. Let me know. You are welcome to crash with us. It does VERY cold in January and February though. Not uncommon to see 20 to 25 below zero, so if real cold bothers you, Early March would be great. Airpacker, I hope the lakes button up soon and freeze good and thick. Nort, One neat thing about the cold is if you get 'em down to just a bra or Tee-shirt, the HIGH-BEAMS come on!:D |

Uncle Toys,
I don't have any digital photos of my friends and I yet. We got a digital camera a year or so ago and have finally started using ti with our new puppy. I really don't know much about it yet. So I will try. Yes it is about the speed, teh freedom, teh cold crisp air, the adrenaline rush, the scenic beauty, being able to go place and see things you would ordinarily not be able to sccess int eh summer months. It is the commrradere, the friendships, the travel, the tinkering. It is about seeing wild animals like deer, moose, quail, pheasant, reindeer, eagles, bears, etc. It is just like boating in so many ways. When we do long distanc eover night trips it is visiting new towns, in far out lying areas. Meeting people from all over the world. Climbing mountains, frozen lakes and rivers, so much to see, and experience. Oh, and it is all about racing your buddies on those frozen lakes for bragging rights till next weekend. And I cannto forget when you cross the border into Canada, especially Quebec, the table top ballet is second to NONE!:D So help me out my fellow snowmobilers, anyone have any cool photos to show these guys what they are missing? |
Hey Shane, you are ahead of me this year...so far:D I am at work now and can't post the pictures but will tonight. And your right it is not about the speed but the freedom.
|
Mitch,
We gonna ride together this year? Let's try and make something happen. Shane |
Shane, glad to hear you had fun. We have had extremely good snow for this time of year. They have measured 102" above Gothic(Crested Butte). The back bowls of Vail have recieved 7-8' of snow so far. A couple more storms and we will have more than we had all last winter. It has been fun so far!!!!!

Shane
Do you have any input on ski conditions/killington, wobbly barn etc.:D
|
Man, you guys are making me jelous. I love the snow!! Can't wait to strap on the boards and bang thru the bumps in a few months here in Cincy (man made snow:( ) Ahhhhhh, I need to buy a sled, I swear, that is the next toy in my box. Now.....I did break out the plow and spreader today and service them for the season/lack of season to come. does that count?!?!?!?!:D :D :D
|
Hey Shane
I just bought this toy to get me through winter, and to somewhat satisfy my snowmobile needs. I had a 700SX but I sold it because it was getting to be too much praying for snow all the time, then driving 7-8 hrs upstat and arriving on ****ty trails.
I'm thinking about renting this year with my wife. Do you know of any good places to stay and rent sleds? I want SPORT sleds at least 600s preferably 700s. NOT double tanks! I used to ride Bennington S. Vermont, Old Forge, Tug Hill, and St. Agathe Canada regularly. I'm looking to book about a week somewhere in February. Wanna try and get some other friends to go too. Mike I see you are parting out a 2.5 carb. What gearcase? CLE or Sportmaster? Right or left rotation? Regarding rentals. Can't help you too much there. You have been going to a lot of the places we go. I would try http://www.snowmobileworld.com and post there. Also call Big Moose Yamaha if you want to rent in the Old Forge area and if they don't as them who does. Their number is 315-357-2998. The Old Forge Chamber is 315-369-6983. For Canada, Allan sold the Motel Ste Agathe. It is now a shopping center. If you want to go up toward St. Michele, St Zenon and such, go to http://www.zenwaiter.com Great site and VERY TRUTHFUL and HELPFUL! Shane |
Mike,
If you are interested in Canada, there is a place that rents Polaris' in St. Michele, right in town on the trail. They are XC 6's and 7's. (a few friends had to rents a few last year) A group of us are going up for a week leaving on 1/18/03, then again for a week in February. We stay right outside St. Michele in a condo on a lake right on the trail. If interested for more info let me know. |
If you are going to Canada tr this site as well. It is the official web-site for the Quebec Snowmobile Federation.

Polaris rider
Yes, the guy on the Polaris did that that day! It was his first ride of the season and he forgot over the summer that the trees don't move when they see you coming:D
I can't believe Motel St. Agathe is gone! That's my favorite location. Some great great great beer and young talent down that road in a couple of those bars! I have to make plans soon. I think Canada is the best bet. |
CLE
Shane, the gearcase is a CLE right hand. It looks to be an older style, it has the drain plug on the bottom of the bullet. There is also a plug on the carrier. It has 11 water inlet holes. I ran it once on my Skater and there were no problems. No play or wear. The gear oil was pretty dirty, no water, just black. I changed it before I ran it and I am going to change it again before I sell it.
