O.T.-Why aren't you married?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comebacks to that all time favorite question "Why Aren't You Married Yet?"

You haven't asked yet.

I was hoping to do something meaningful with my life.

Because I just love hearing this question.

Just lucky, I guess.

It gives my mother something to live for.

My fiancée is awaiting his/her parole.

I'm still hoping for a shot at Miss/Mr. America.

Do you know how hard it is to get two tickets to Miss Saigon?

I'm waiting until I get to be your age.

It didn't seem worth a blood test.

I already have enough laundry to do, thank you.

Because I think it would take all the spontaneity out of dating.

My co-op board doesn't allow spouses.

I'd have to forfeit my billion dollar trust fund.

They just opened a great singles bar on my block.

I wouldn't want my parents to drop dead from sheer happiness.

I guess it just goes to prove that you can't trust those voodoo doll rituals.

What? And lose all the money I've invested in running personal ads?

I don't want to have to support another person on my paycheck.

Why aren't you thin?

I'm married to my career, although recently we have been considering a trial separation.

(Bonus reply for Single Mothers) Because having a husband and a child would be redundant.

True story. Just prior to the purchase of my third Cigarette, my ex-fiancee' Vicki and I were at her families party at their house on a canal. A 35 Cafe Racer rumbled by and I was all smiles. She commented on 'how intrusive' they were because of the noise. (she obviously did not share my love of Cigarette's) An argument ensued. Her cousin commented 'Well I guess there isn't another Cigarette in you future." My response, "No, I guess there is not a Vicki in my future". Vicki and I broke up that night.

There is a happy ending to this story though. Vicki has left the state and I am madly in love with the 38 Cigarette Top Gun I purchased.

After 13 years with the same honey what's the advantage to marriage?
Amen, Catmando!

SteveS 11-22-2002 08:04 PM

Well it went like this. I was engaged for about 5months to this girl I've been seeing of and on for about 9yrs, so she knew about my passion for speed on and off the water. I had finally finish school and decided to get into racing, so I told her I was selling my Scarab and buying a race boat. She said it was her or the raceboat. I didn't even respond. After a min she came up with the ideal that she wanted to control my checkbook and finances. We wern't even married yet! We'll I got up and walked out, and am now the proud owner of a race boat.

PS: She is out of the picture!:D

at 44 I'm having too much fun to have a manager in my life. Plus there are just way too many young Fl. hoes that are everywhere. Maybe when I'm old as hell and need some chick to hang around for 5 or 6 years and take all my money. And it is so true in Fl.

merlin540 11-22-2002 11:08 PM

does that mean that after my split with my pain in my ass i can get a 36 skater after i have to give up 1/2 of my 32 skater?????? BOY I CANT WAIT!!!!:D

Marriage is like drugs; "just say NO!"

Keith 11-23-2002 08:31 AM

This is a no brainer guys.

Married with children?

OR

Single with toys?

There are exceptions, and a lot of married people on OSO who've found a good match. The problem is those women are very few and a diminishing breed in numbers. :)

Barry, good story.

MnFastBoat 11-23-2002 08:49 AM

Tracy, you forgot the most common perfect answer possible :)

"The good ones are already taken!" :(

Sometimes I have friends why I am not.
I too have had one perfect, so I thought at the time, girlfriend.
I spent over 5 years researching and saving for my boat. Wanted this, no wanted that. Went t oover a doxen manufacturers over the years for inspection and learning. We were together for the last 14 months of this endeavor of mine. She knew what I was looking for. It was not even when I ordered the boat, but 2 months before taking delivery when we discussed our vacation time to Havasu to pick it up. She did not want to take her vacation in Sep but to wait until Dec for a cruise. I told here my vacation needed to be used to pick up the boat. She then realized that the boat purchase was real. She was absurded that I was looking at buying a 100 grand boat. Lets say things ended after that :(
So to this day I have not found the one that understands why we are the way we are. People have hobbies, people have lives, people are different, it is what makes this world so great.
Problem is trying to match everyone up.
But I can honestly speak for myself, I have not honest looked for the perfect one as much as some have.
Like many have said here, sometimes its cheaper, easier, or safer to be single.
People can come up with so many different reasons or thought answers as to why, but I truly beleive most of the people that give reasons other then personal the yare making it up and are afraid!

JMHO :)

Talking from experience, my wife is a good wife and mother. I can get a little crazy at times and she is the one who keeps trying to hold it together. With that said if/when I finally blow it again, I will never get married again.
There is no other living creature on this planet that spends it's entire adult life with the same "thing".
Why as the smartest, most sophisticated creature do we get roped into this?

Gearhead99 11-23-2002 04:36 PM

Florida Gator, now that is a good question. Why us ?????????

wilerty 11-23-2002 05:43 PM

A bachelor/bachelorette is someone who hasn't made the same mistake once.

Consintracy 11-24-2002 05:47 AM

What is the proper age to get married?

"Eighty-four! Because at that age, you don't have to work anymore, and you can spend all your time loving each other in your bedroom."
-Judy, age 8

"Once I'm done with kindergarten, I'm going to find me a wife!"
-Tom, age 5

What Do Most People Do On A Date?
"On the first date, they just tell each other lies, and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date."
-Mike, age 10

When Is It Okay To Kiss Someone?
"You should never kiss a girl unless you have enough bucks to buy her a big ring and her own VCR, 'cause she'll want to have videos of the wedding."
-Jim, age 10

"Never kiss in front of other people. It's a big embarrassing thing if anybody sees you. But if nobody sees you, I might be willing to try it with a handsome boy, but just for a few hours."
-Kally, age 9

The Great Debate: Is It Better To Be Single Or Married?
"It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need somebody to clean up after them!"
-Lynette, age 9

"It gives me a headache to think about that stuff. I'm just a kid. I don't need that kind of trouble."
-Kenny, age 7

Concerning Why Love Happens Between Two Particular People
"No one is sure why it happens, but I heard it has something to do with how you smell. That's why perfume and deodorant are so popular."
-Jan, age 9

"I think you're supposed to get shot with an arrow or something, but the rest of it isn't supposed to be so painful."
-Harlen, age 8

"One of the people has freckles and so he finds somebody else who has freckles too."
-Andrew, age 6

Gearhead99 11-24-2002 07:46 AM

RLW,

Being married second time, I'm a slow learner , I would listen to the married guys they have the experience.

SpectreBoy 11-24-2002 10:02 AM

You just have to find the right girl, the first one I was married too just didn't understand. Eight years single and searching found one that did, we've done everything together, street roddin, harleys, motorhomes, drag racing, and now boats and a 2nd home on the lake. She's never questioned any purchase or even asked why, she just smiles and enjoys whatever we do together. Just keep looking and testing them out (thats the good part) and maybe if your lucky enough you'll find one like mine. Eighteen years together and I'm still the luckiest guy in the world.
