Thank you for the post, great story. I like endurance runs, I have always enjoyed reading about the success or lack of success (not failure) the participants experienced.

The link takes me to the Catalina race but the title of the thread has West Palm Beach to Free port?

Wow!

Love it.

This is what got me, as a kid, in the ‘70’s interested in Offshore.

The attention to detail in preparation, so many things that most of us would never think of….

If it’s calm, it works and they do great.

If it’s rough, or a long marathon, something breaks that no one would ever think of and is usually a cheap/easy part to replace.

Love it!

Please keep us posted w/updates Matt.

Is that "B Limited" class for cats <100mph as an average? I'd be interested as we would really be under that as an average, but we run well over 100 top speed.

From reading the rules on the Tinidad race, since that one has so many different speed classes, the speed is GPS checked. If you go over, any, for any amount of time, you are disqualified. They will also check your boat prior to race and put you in the correct class if they think you are not correct on your max speed you can expect to go.

Of course, talk to Janet with Ocean Cup to make sure, but that is what I understood when I asked her about the <100mph rule for the open cockpit boats.

Is this to Freeport for the checkered flag or Freeport and back?

If it's just to Freeport, the running distance is in keeping with Bimini Challenge of years back... in 2010 JBS won the Challenge running out and back in 51.57minutes / averaging 122.422mph.

He beat the hell out of that turbine boat..... with open ocean, unless the weather/seas co-operate, 100mph class is a solid # to post

There and back. Over there on Friday, with timed run from West Palm to Freeport. Then Sat run back with timed run from Freeport to Inlet of West Palm. Time is then added together for the total run.
