EDIT - I suppose the human throttle man has the advantage of being able to see what's coming and anticipate a liftoff, but I'm sure the speed of an electronic system vs. human reflexes could overcome that.

Shaft speed sensor, make a curve of acceleration rate of that shaft speed, drive by wire throttle body like all the new mercs have, and a good ecu….piece of cake.

In then old offshore days they didn’t have rev limiters that’s why you had a throttle man. Engines would just go until they couldnt if you let them. Now you have limiters that provide some protection but limiters are hard on valvetrain too. Oscillates the springs and fatigues them amongst other things

And from the reports I read was at 60-70 mph. A freak accident. Can’t verify but what the authorities reported back in 01. To my knowledge the other incident he had in 2018 he was by himself and the boat was far from wrecked.

Its clear that some OSO members think "GoFast" boats need mandates... We need more mandates. Yves wasnt even wearing a N95 mask. Crazy, just crazy...
