Are the 400 Verado's the motor of choice for this boat ?

Pretty much all the 32's PBC gets in now are 400 boats. There are some 350 VRod boats down here at the lake and that is still plenty of power for the boat. I think the release of the 400 Verado vs. the 400R made it more attractive to go with 400's. Just a guess.
