At the beginning I genuinely believed the OP was looking for help with his poorly designed and set up boat. I was incorrect with that assumption, he just wanted validation with his preexisting plan to install an oversized cavitation plate (not a Hydrofoil, as indicated by the title). Thank you SB for the example of a hydrofoil!
I say go cat go! Install the Doel-fin or whatever brand you have already purchased, and when it creates so much stern lift, you spin out, and from the extra load on the cav plate it breaks the mounting points clean from the drive.

Please don't have anyone else with you at the time of your test run.

I am honored to have participated in a dialogue with a future Darwin Award recipient.

It’s called a hydrofoil, cavitation plate, whale tail, there’s a lot of names for it, don’t try coming in here and talking trash when I’m the one who came in here with a SPECIFIC question than got a few guys trying to show off and play mechanic trying to prove to everyone how much they know. If I wanted to “diagnose” my boat, I would have asked for help diagnosing. I don’t. I don’t want help diagnosing, or am I a big old bad guy because I want to stick to the thread? Ever think of that?

Offshoredrillin’s mom is not “fat”, she’s pleasantly plump. That’s offensive.

:angry-smiley-038:

I’ve never once tried picking your mom up, physically or metaphorically. Probably could tow her in a tube behind that coupe hydrofoil if the engine could take it 🙂

SB 04-01-2022 08:45 AM

Mom jokes. Lololololol

Uhmmm dude...if your boat handles like sh!t, then there is a problem. Stop looking for bandaids and find/fix the problem before you hurt somebody.

I think the problem is you have a crappy designed boat and the owner is just as stupid... in boating terms you're whats known as an askhole, you ask questions and keep changing the question till you get an answer you want... so einstein, good luck w your tub, hope you dont kill anyone... let us know if you decide to go to any runs, so we know to look out for the ill handling POS, with the know it all behind the wheel.

Etch this in stone! It's nothing but the facts!

After all, the things are like a measly 50 bucks at Cabelas.
Anyone with a tenth of a percent of common sense would of went and bought one and tried it if they had the notion, instead of this shaatshow.

You don't want anyone's help!
You know everything, this thread exposes that.

Just do what the voices up there are telling you!

Radiation exposure from the marinized home nuclear reactor that powers his resin bucket...

At the risk of showing my age , had the thread been titled "Anyone running a 'Doelfin' on a ..." I'd have had a better idea what to expect , but maybe that's just me :D

Please post a picture of that hull at speed NOT jumping a wave.

I don't know why, just somehow thought it would be appropriate at this point...................lol

I don’t think the OP is going to be replying much anymore. I heard mom coming down the stairs yelling at him about hogging the internet one of his last posts.

Back to COPS reruns

Whoa now Deep.
Is that a step hull? Does it have a hydrofoil?
The rules have been laid out.

To a point.
If the starter of this thread and that organization are the same, that's downright scary. :readinghelp:

PWW,

People HAVE given you THE answers. You just don't like them. If you weren't actually looking for answers, why did you ask the question? I'll admit, I've asked some pretty dumb questions on here, but I readily heeded the answers I was given. Sometimes you just have to admit that your initial conceptions were wrong. It's called growth.

Consider the physics of what you're trying to do. You're trying to convert a stepped hull into a hydroplane, thinking a stepped hull already rides on a cushion of air. This is demonstrably NOT TRUE. It was explained to you that a stepped hull aerates the water behind the step(s), and reduces the wetted surface, reducing drag. They are not designed to ride on the step, with the aft hull running dry. The only thing you're going to get from this is a spun out boat and a boat load of injured passengers. Just stop.

Thanks. Brad.
