My guess is Performance Boat had an exclusive agreement with DW....I bet Ron was trying to do something similar but with a Cig cat. I believe his order has been cancelled.

I own and are the original owner the 32 DW that was in the Cig booth at the show this year in Miami. Cig called me and asked a favor if they could put it in the show. They put the Cig sticker on it with out my consent. No big deal, it peels off. This boat was built by DW and rigged by Grant's Signature Racing as all my boats do and Jamie Borg did the interior and that is the boat's history.

I have been a long time DW customer and wish both parties the best.

So the next ad campaign might be: What makes a boat a Cigarette?

Apparently a sticker! :D

It was cool of you to lend them your boat for the show especially since they didn't even build it for you.

So to track back to the original story, Ruiz notes 4X the sales so no doubt that included the 12 new Cig cats Ron bought. Growing the sales 400% would essentially mean 4X the amount of boats are heading out of the factory. Has anyone heard of 75-80 people getting new Cigs (or deduct the Ron 12, 63-68 people getting new Cigs)? Seems the owner likes to self promote his success before it actually happens.

I think Cig sells quite a few overseas. I bet they build more than people think.

Someone mentioned something above asking how many people here actually are real buyers for this brand. We all are. Just because we aren’t lining up today to buy one doesn’t mean we aren’t potential buyers at some point. We are their market, and there are a lot more people reading than posting, and thousands of boat enthusiasts that don’t do interweb forums. There are about 4 performance boats that catch my eye and could get in my pocket. Cig was always a brand on my short list. I gotta say I’m rooting for the kid but my perception of the brand starts at the top and there are strange things going on out in the open that should be behind the curtain. They need to learn to speak of “we” when talking about the strength of their team and brand.

They've been doing about 20 boats a year pretty consistently - that includes boats going overseas.

So 4X if its just sales at the same price (doubt that) would be 80 boats per year? I bet that is not possible to scale up to with supply chain issues and unemployment at 3.5% But it said 4X more revenue, maybe that was split between sales and price increases.

Considering shop floor space, work force, available molds, cure time 80 boats a year could be difficult unless they did a significant expansion. Sounds more like acquisition tycoon B.S..

Makes me wonder if their strategy is actually pump-n-dump.
