If someone can get a 438 skater new with 1100's with paint and a trailer and all the nice interior package and gauges for less than 1 Mil. I would be shocked and Skater must be working for free. Motor, Drive, Tranny packages are almost half that amount of money, thats not a hull or rigging or screens or anything. A open cockpit OL or MTI are going to be North of 1.5 Mil.

For all you guys that are excited about these new 500Rs, don't let the boat manufacturer's bend you over on price for one of these new rigs. I'm already hearing stories of manufacturer's wanting an additional $100k-$150k for a 500R rig over a 450R rig. The fact is that Mercury is only charging the OEMs $10k more the 500Rs over the 450Rs, so you should only be paying $20k more for the same twin-engine boat powered by 500Rs vs 450Rs. No doubt we are going to start seeing some very fast outboard cats that are equaling the speeds of the lighter powered inboard cats.

What I said is there is no way you can build a 438 with 1100 mercs #6 drives equipped and finished off like a top of line brand OB boat on a trailer painted. That is apples to apples comparisons. I cant and never would speak for Tony but they cant build that boat for 1 Mil Its probably at least 1.25Mil. So pricing on top brand model OB boats Vs a 438 done up just as nice still leaves you a spread of 400-500k to step up to the inboard 438 boat. |

The 450R are gone from the Mercury website.
I didn't know they were going to do away with the 450R overall? I can see why just though they'd still offer the whole lineup. |
