Please re-read my post, as what I stated is not what you are saying in your post. It's not my position to post Skater's pricing online, but I can tell by the comments I've seen that they're not as expensive as many would think. Don't base pricing on what the guy at the bar with the gold chains on is bragging about how much he paid for his new big offshore boat, as that number quite often gets bigger the more cocktails are downed. but was that on a flat or tilt trailer? These tilts are up around 150k these days, so that could really change that number even more. Was just curious

What would make you think a 438 hull would cost double what a 388 hull cost Joe? I'm not understanding why you would post something you know is not true. If you were quoted $1M for a new 388/1100 package, why would a 438/1100 package be $500k more? Everything is equal except for the jump up two sizes in model, which is only about $200k more. I know you're pushing "everything outboard" now for some reason, but don't post things that aren't true about the inboard boats. I'd also like to know what insurance carrier is charging $60,000.00 per year for insurance on a new 43' cat w/ 1100s, because that number is unheard of in the 25 years I've been involved in the sport. Getting back to my original post that has caused so much controversy, I stand by my words that if a guy has enough cash to go buy a new 440X/500R rig on a tilt trailer from Randy, he certainly could go buy himself a new 438/1100 rig on a tilt trailer from Tony/Pete.

For all you guys that are excited about these new 500Rs, don't let the boat manufacturer's bend you over on price for one of these new rigs. I'm already hearing stories of manufacturer's wanting an additional $100k-$150k for a 500R rig over a 450R rig. The fact is that Mercury is only charging the OEMs $10k more the 500Rs over the 450Rs, so you should only be paying $20k more for the same twin-engine boat powered by 500Rs vs 450Rs. No doubt we are going to start seeing some very fast outboard cats that are equaling the speeds of the lighter powered inboard cats.

I re read your post, your stating that OB boats are essentially more expensive than you think should be because 1 company wants 1M for there OB boat, but that is not the normal that is 1 anomaly. You are correct though some are expensive, 600-750k on a trailer painted, but look at how they are equipped and finished inside the cockpits and inside the hatches, the fit and finish. IMO you pay for what you get most times.
What I said is there is no way you can build a 438 with 1100 mercs #6 drives equipped and finished off like a top of line brand OB boat on a trailer painted. That is apples to apples comparisons.
I cant and never would speak for Tony but they cant build that boat for 1 Mil Its probably at least 1.25Mil.
So pricing on top brand model OB boats Vs a 438 done up just as nice still leaves you a spread of 400-500k to step up to the inboard 438 boat.

I saw them last year at Mystic, when MR sent Cosker a pair for the initial testing over at Lake-X, the Lowers on them are a completely new design.

also curious where youre finding this insurance numbers at 2500-5000 a month. if thats the case than i need to talk to some of my carriers because they are totally missing the market

300-400-500 is reasonable.

175-200-225-250 was way too tight.
