Another OG OSOr has passed, RIP Chuck Beecher

Sadly, chuckbeecher passed away on Sunday night. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when he returned from the 2021 Key West Poker Run. He gave it a brave and valiant fight for 6 months.
He kicked the cancer's ass, but sadly and as often happens, his body just couldn't keep up. He passed peacefully with his family by his side.

Chuck has been a staple of OSO since 2001, one of the early members here.
Chuck purchased the very first 32' Active Thunder that Pat Haughey built when he bought the company.
Years later, his son Clark aka crb76 bought a 37' Active Thunder from Pat as well.
That's how I got to know Clark, Chuck, and the entire family. Chuck referred to me as "#3 Son" and I called him "Papa Beecher".

Chuck recently told Clark: "I'm not afraid of dying, was just afraid of not living." And LIVING Chuck did.

We've had so many boating adventures that I can't even count them all, but there is one thing that Clark and I will always joke about.
One trip, from the backseat of of the Active Thunder, we were in some quartering seas, and while Clark was leveling the boat, Chuck yelled out:
"TRIM TABS ARE FOR PUZZIES!"

Clark and I will joke about that forever.

Chuck leaves behind, his wife, Brenda, and her daughter Courtney and husband; Clark and Kevin and their wives, and 6 grandchildren total.
ALL of them have a love of boating thanks to Chuck!!!

We will be gathering in Houston, TX tomorrow to celebrate his life.

RIP Chuck, aka Papa Beecher.

Would this be a family tradition? Hell yeah! Congratulations Clark and Chuck! Nice boat.

One more Active Thunder joining us in just 2 weeks for the Key West Active Rally. We welcome the latest addition to the family.

"TRIM TABS ARE FOR PUZZIES!"
I've got to admire a man that would say that. Deepest condolences to his family. May Chuck Rest In Peace.

My condolences Clark. I just lost my dad (Lucky Strike) last month. Unfortunately, nobody can say or do anything to ease the pain. Just remember the memories, and the good times you both shared.

RaggedEdge 05-24-2022 05:51 PM

Did not know Chuck but understand his comment about dying vs not living. As I close in on my seventh decade I also hope to be able to " LIVE " out my days as opposed to dying. RIP Chuck, hope you last days were some of your best.

He was everything! Thanks for the prayers and well wishes! Tough couple of days but I find happiness is his will to live life and the memories and adventures with him doing so!

Sorry for the loss of your dad, that is always a tough one to swallow. Every time you think of him you will smile or giggle. Been 19 years for me and I still do.
