Had the port engine pulled to fix a nuisance oil pan leak and found the input shaft splines razor thin and dry like they never had any spline grease.( I’m sure they had spline grease when installed 45 hrs ago).
I think there’s too much chatter/slop introduced into the driveline with the clutches but I’ve never seen anything like it. Wondering if misalignment occurs when the torque threshold is exceeded and the clutches do their thing?? But the splines in the input shaft and the drive guardian are trashed.

Both I and the shop in Spokane (Legends Performance Marine) have talked to him. I’m sending them to him to rebuild, but so far no one has a good answer as to what happened. I know a lot of farm machinery has similar clutches built into their drivelines and they do save equipment but they are usually in the center section of a driveline and not on a supporting end if that makes any difference??
I’m not an engineer so…

amen to that. They used to be brass too...

I ended up breaking the other one as well, which was murder to get to on the port engine. Glad I ordered two of them and several of those C-clips.

After today I am finding that I get to pull the AC unit and figure out why it sounds pissed off.

Lost mine last year - I ended up just replacing since the entire system including a new digital readout was 1200 delivered to the door. Seemed money better spent than working on my 15 year old unit. Mine is up under the drivers helm - it was an unpleasant repair
