Many will remember the Donzi ZRC accident nearly 20 years ago in Virginia.
The driver of the ZRC wo was the owner of the dealership was drunk; ran over a cruiser, killed the two people aboard and their dog, and ran, all in the middle of the night.
That was the downfall of that dealer, and a real black eye to the offshore powerboaters in the region.
Time will tell if the same thing happens here.
---
Same lake as above; one night running barely on plane, in my 37AT, I came across two drunk/high redneck idiots in a aluminum boat with NO lights whatsoever. We were lucky to see them. They claimed their battery went dead. I told them I'd call the authorities to get them help. They ADAMANTLY screamed at me not to do so.
...Yet if I'd have hit them, I would have been the *******.
I went 5 minutes down the lake, stopped, and called the police on them. F that. I probably saved their life as it was Poker Run weekend, and we were not the only ones out that night.

I know anytime I boat when I have any alcohol in my system, all I can think of is, if anything happens, all we’ll hear is, “there was alcohol involved”!
So much for your reputation, your 50 yrs of accident free boating would be wiped out!

Have you guys seen the damage to the Nortech? Also it states that the paddle wheel and back corner of the rub rail had some damage. I’ve seen worse damage from guys not knowing how to dock at a marina. You guys are acting like he ran a dinghy over doing 70mph. The boat he hit was a lot bigger than his Nor-tech and I would be willing to guess everybody involved knew that there was no serious injuries by how little the impact was.

How would he be able to survey the injuries or damage?............He turned out his lights and fled the scene!
Did the collision knock anyone overboard?
Did the collision damage the propulsion of the other vessel, leaving it adrift?
Did he run over a dinghy in the process of hitting the other boat?
But I'd bet you will put a thread up in a few weeks: Any 45 Nortechs for sale under 600K? Slight damage ok, must have quad 450s and low hours though.

From personal experience, I have zero sympathy for drunks who get caught but to be fair, we shouldn’t can this guy until we know more details.

And now you know why I don't drink and don't allow alcohol on my boat. A guy I know was coming home across Lake St Clair going fast and hit a small fishing boat without lights threw him, his daughter and wife out of the boat. They couldn't find his wife until the next day, he and his daughter were rushed to the hospital. Fisherman jumped out of their boat and were not injured. I'm not in that big of a hurry for anything. I'm fortunate in that where I boat, there is almost zero traffic and miles of open water.
